So I typed instructions for discharge, and wrote that the patient needed to "Take all medications as perscribed." The patient read the instructions, and told me our computer program spelled prescribed wrong.

I assumed our program had a spell-check. I was wrong.

Fantastic first error! You learned never to assume anything, no one got hurt, and you made some of us laugh.

The horror! A misspelled word! You most likely didn't intend to be funny, but honestly if you read some of the typos in charting you wouldn't even consider this an error. So thanks for making me smile so early in the morning.

Considering the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa or the University of Kentucky, Lexington for BSN. Any suggestions and why would you choose one over the other?

lol... that's kind of cute. At least no one got hurt (:

Yeppers - heaven forbid that they invest in decent software support for nursing staff - with Spellchecker! Kind of indicates where we are in the financial priorities, huh? I'm impressed by your patient! At least s/he was actually reading the DC instructions -- very nice.

Thank God it wasn't a medication error and move on. ;)
