Trouble Finding a Job as New Graduate??

Nurses New Nurse

Just wanted to ask the many of you that have just graduated that didn't obtain jobs before you graduated if you are having any difficulty finding a job? I just started looking and I am running into the theme of "you don't have any experience as an RN." Well, duh, I just graduated in May. But, I do have 1 year experience as an LVN, which I thought would be enough, but as of right now, it's not. I know many people obtain employment before graduating which I think is probably the route to go, but I had my Review class and I had a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy after I graduated so I couldn't work until now.

Any comments, suggestions, tips, etc. would be greatly appreciated. I know I need to be patient since I've just starting looking, but the first two possible job prospects for me ended with "no experience as an RN". Thanks for letting me vent in this forum, since my husband probably gets tired of me talking about it.

I just graduated from a pn program and could not find a job anywhere as a graduate. I am hoping since I jsut passed my nclex-pn two weeks ago that things will get easier now. Hopefully I will find a job very soon seeing as money is getting very tight.:wink2:

Are the people who are having problems finding a job after graduation graduating with and ADN or a BSN degree? Or is it a little of both? I would be curious to know.

Thanks -

I don't think it really matters if you have an ADN or BSN. Well, except for one hospital that told them they prefer hiring BSN's over ADN's, but would hire an ADN with 6 months experience. This hospital is one of the best in Houston and I guess they can pay to be particular. Well, I don't know how you do that without someone giving you a chance to begin with. It's like a catch 22; there's a nursing shortage but they want you to have experience.:uhoh3:

I graduated with a BSN degree still no job! Gonna call a nurse recruiter about a part time PACU position tomorrow. Hopefully I can at least get an interview, keep your fingers crossed!!

In the current job market (thank you Bush), it's like that everywhere. All of the entry level jobs require 1 year experience. Well, it's not really entry level then, now is it? I had the same problem as a grade school teacher. After two years unemployment, I'm in nursing school :angryfire .
