Just wondering....have you started out making at least $60,000/year?

Specializes in Geriatrics, Cardiac, ICU.

They do up North and in the Western states.

Specializes in Telemetry.

Depends on where you work (what region of the US). My starting pay will not come out to 60k unless I work some overtime in my first year. I'm in the Chicago area. I'm in the low 50k range including my shift diff for nights. If I was on days I'd be in the the low 40s.

Specializes in oncology, transplant, OB.

I did the math and I should make about $64,000 my first year working nights. I live in PA.

Specializes in Ortho, Neuro, Detox, Tele.

50 grand before taxes.....28/hour with shift diff....

Specializes in Oncology, Med-Surg, Nursery.

Not where I live. I'd have to do OT to clear that for my first year.

Aw, that sucks. I thought nurses were in demand. Why the heck isn't every nurse starting out at $60,000/year?!

Because the COL is not the same everywhere. All jobs vary somewhat in pay rate depending on where you live.

Specializes in Chiropractic assistant, CNA in LTC, RN.

Winston-Salem NC hospitals day shift starts at just over $42K a year for RNs. COL isn't bad here compared to many areas of the country. It's a ton of money for me who's last job was a CNA at the tune of $8.19 an hour. lol

What part of Pa and what exactly are you going in to? I live in Lancaster county....I think most start out in the 40's around here....lol...would definitely be up for a move though :-)

Here in Charleston WV, new graduate RN's start at $18 an hour at CAMC. No, that is not a typo. Eighteen an hour.

Specializes in Starting on a Telemetry Floor.

I just started in NY and I`m starting well above 60,000
