Nurses New Nurse

I recently received my new license and started work as an RN. I'm starting to clean out my little office from 3 years worth of nursing school notes. Wondering if I should file them away never to be seen again, or if I should just throw them away? I still have my NCLEX review notes (which are like a concentrated version of everything) and textbooks. Is it a bad idea to toss the rest, or is it like a cleansing experience?

I tossed mine. Only thing I really kept from school was my study guide for NCLEX, which I never have looked at since taking the exam.

Honestly, I haven't opened my text books either. I believe the "keep your textbook" concept dated back before google. I now wish that I had sold back more of my old textbooks after graduation. :twocents:

I burned copies of my notes and lectures to a DVD-ROM, the tossed the hard copies and cleared the files off of the computer. Kept the textbooks and I'm glad I did, since I found myself using them an awful lot for the RN-BSN program.

I ditched 99.99% of my hardcopy stuff and burned all the powerpoints etc. onto a CD. Kept all the books.

I got rid of most of mine, except for my critical care notes. I got rid of the books that wouldn't really be relevant to my practice (OB & Peds, MH) and kept the ones that will help me to use as references.

To be honest I haven't looked at mine since! (Been working for a few months now)... I gotta purge out my closet too! :)

I threw all mine away after passing the NCLEX! I kept all my work- like careplans and projects, but threw away all the class powerpoints and notes- I can't imagine EVER looking at them again, and it was fun getting rid of all that stuff. I kept my nursing textbooks, but am considering selling those since anything I need to know I could probably just look up online :) I might just keep my nursing fundamentals and patho books though.

I tossed everything after each semester. In my dream world everything would be disposable. LOL I hate clutter but having 4 kids it's hard to keep it out. I do what I can to try though.
