Hello everyone

I don't know what's the matter with me. I cant seem to get hired:madface: I have been out of school for 7 months and got my licence in October. I got them endorsed to another state in November and I Have been looking for a job since December. I've had 3 interviews and no response from any of them. Well one said that it wouldn't be fair to hire me and put me on a hall with 20 something patients with no experience:o .I kinda understand why they don't want to hire new grads but how am I to get experience if no one wants to hire me. Its hard especially with my husband on my back asking when will I go to work, when will I get a job to help out financially:angryfire . He just don't understand and I'm sick of hearing him and other people ask me am I working yet and Why. I only have my mother who is behind me 100%, she keep saying "God is testing my faith and it will come". I just wish it would hurry up. This is long enough. My question is How long did it take some of you guys to find a job after getting your license? or am I the only one. I'm really tired of looking, I kinda want to give up!

Sorry so long, I need to vent!

How are you dressed for the interview? Jean or Nice pants and shirt or skirt... I went to the very first place and got hired on immediately, they will orientate you for weeks before you are one the floor with 20 patients..you will shadow the nurse and learn from her and other nurses that orientate you. Make sure you are dressed appropriately for the job interview. Think postive and hold your head up high you worked very hard for this and go and get that job!

Good Luck ! Im praying for you...

Do you still talk with your peers from nursing school? Are they hiring at the places they work? You could check that out. Also, call the places back that you've interviewed at. I'm also a new LPN. I put in two applications a couple of months apart at the same job I wanted so badly. I finally called a couple of weeks after no response after 2nd application. I got the DON on the phone and she just outright asked me when could I come in for an interview. I was always told to be very persistent when job looking. If you don't hear anything back from them within a week or two, I would call to see whats up. I hope everything works out for you. Don't give up!!! You will soon luck out. Keep us posted on how things are going.

Have you tried to apply at any nursing homes? I use to work at a long term care facility in Washington state and they were always hiring new LPN grads. Good luck and I hope you will find something soon.

Moonie, don't give up. Be persistent. I too am a new LVN Grad. Just passed NCLEX on 2/16 and somehow the first interview I went on I was hired at our hospital in med surg. I haven't started yet as they are doing background checks, etc. But I know what you mean. I went to several job fairs and they all tell me they want me to have 1 year med/surg acute experience. So I was lucky the hospital is giving me that chance. The pay is the worst I have found, but I can continue my classes for RN. I made sure to write a letter after my interview to thank them for their time and express my interest in working for them. Also, make sure and dress professionally and have questions ready in your mind to ask them to show you are a good communicator and are interested. Will keep you in my prayers. God will provide a job for you where he wants you. Trust in him. He brought you here for a reason. :nurse:

any luck finding a job yet? :)

No, you Guys I have Not find a job yet still waiting. I did put in more applications and some are duplicate. My husband is really riding my nerves though. He don't understand that I am trying. He said "Being in health care there is a lot of jobs out there." "And they are desperate for Nurses". Yeah I know just not me. How about you try something else like in Administration.

I graduated out of another state than where I am now, so all of my classmates were offered jobs where we did clinical at. I tried a nursing home but she said "It wouldn't be fair giving a new grad so many meds to pass."

I am dressed very professional, so I know that is not a problem. Maybe I'm not impressing them at my interviews I don't know. Any advice?

I'm a new LVN who was hired after 1 day of job-hunting. The place didn't even interview me because they were so short-handed. I simply drove to the address listed in the newspaper ad and applied in person while wearing jeans and a long-sleeved shirt.

I wore my scrubs at subsequent interviews and never had issues with getting hired, even with my lack of experience. I suppose it is due to the fact that I apply only at nursing homes.

:) Nursing Homes do need Nurses :)
