It happens every once in a while on my unit, even with experienced nurses. The charge nurse usually calls to see if everything is ok and to find out if they are on their way in. Don't worry about it! And since you are on orientation, they won't be working short because of it. It was an honest mistake and you most likely won't ever make that mistake again either :nuke:

Eh, no biggie. :) It happens to everyone at least once, I think. In fact, one of the charge relief nurses in my unit went by the pencil schedule instead of the master schedule, and he thought he'd gotten the days off he'd scheduled himself for. They were really worried about him, so they kept calling his house and everyone to make sure he was okay. The problem was he was sleeping and not answering his phone. So, everyone got even more worried. But, finally he answered his phone, came to unit to make sure he really was on the schedule, saw that he was indeed scheduled, went downstairs, got some scrubs and started working. :chuckle I felt bad because he missed out on a day off because came in on his day off thinking he had to work and ended up working 4 days instead. I understand why they were calling like crazy because a no call-no show in my hospital automatically brings a Final Warning. With two NCNS's, you are considered as though you abandoned your job and that will go on your record. So, I understand the desperation, plus I honestly think they worried. :)

I've done it, I've also shown up when not on the schedule, I've seen it happen a lot, we are on crazy schedules, it happens,, don't beat yourself up, you can always come in when they are short and make it up to them ( and yourself) that way

It's happened to me on every job I've started. I awaken either to a call asking where I was, or realizing I'd slept right through my alarm, only to show up sheepishly at work a few hours late. You feel like crap for a few days, then everyone forgets, and life is back to normal.

my CNS gave me my schedule.

I showed up like I had it on my paper. The monday I show up to work, and they tell me "what happened yesterday?" and I said "I was not scheduled to work" and they said "yes, staffing gave us your name". I go check on the computer, and someone put my name wrong on the schedule. go figures, they have me as a "no show". they haven't said anything, but I have my paper to prove that it was not my day.

but I'm sure it happens to more people. we are only human.
