Hey guys,

Just wondering how long after graduation you all plan on starting work...I graduate May 9, and am trying to determine my start date of either June or July. I know I want to take some time for a small vacation and studying for boards. Just wondering what you guys were doing..

Thanks!

Start dates depend on when you pass boards and the facility/unit you are working on. I graduate in May as well and the unit I am working on has determined a start date of August for new grads. This gives us plenty of time to take/pass boards, vacation, move and be ready to work come August.

I graduate May 13th and start orientation May 26th. In VA we can work as graduate nurse for 90 days. My plan is to take the NCLEX in June and have already been training.:yeah:

Yeah! I am in VA also, so I can technically start pretty soon after grad, but wanting to take some time for a vacation, I think! :p

I graduate in June, my start date is July 20.

Graduated in December, Took NCLEX April 9th (Holy Thursday), Received license April 15th, Graduation Ceremony May 17th (yes, a Sunday) and I start my new job on May 18th! :grad:

I graduate May 14 and start on June 1. I wanted to start June 15, but my facility is only doing one nursing orientation for the May graduating class, and it starts on June 1.

I would definitely try to have something lined up way before graduation if at all possible.

P.S. Its great to see so many 09 grads with start dates for their new careers. Many congratulations and best of luck!
