It feels so weird!!

I am sitting here on my day off thinking how weird it is to have an actual day off that I can do anything I want with. I don't have the threat of a test lingering in my head, no more practice questions for the boards, nothing. It's so weird just going to work and when I come home my time is my time. I've been in school for so long I forgot what it was like to be normal! I don't know what to do with my free time now!!! Anyone else feel the same way?

I know! It's kind of shocking! I was thinking about going to the bookstore & get a non-nursing book to read. I almost feel like I'm doing something wrong.

DITTO 2 your comments!!! I'm a new RN (7.23.03), too. I still feel like I have 2 study 4 something. It's a great feeling, though. Good luck 2 U both on being new RNs. May we all have a successful, fun, and rewarding career. And 2 those studying 4 NCLEX good luck and I'll B keeping U in my prayers.

ooooooooohh, how I DO remember that !!! It's beginning to wear off a little now, though.. kinda getting used to it, but I still catch myself "enjoying" it more than before...heh, heh.

I passed Boards in March, and those first 2 months or so, I always had this lingering feeling that I was going to "wake up" and be back at the books again... that this "free time" was really just a dream or figment of my imagination.

Kept telling myself when I was FINISHED I'd get around to finishing all these neat projects I put on the back burner for 3 years.. like cleaning out the basement, cleaning out the junk drawer, etc., etc..... yeah RIGHT !

I haven't touched it.. any of it !!! :rotfl:

So kick back and enjoy what's left of the summer! We might even get a day or two of sunshine before the snows fly. (I don't know about YOU all, but WE got cheated out of a summer this year !!!)

Then in winter, find yourself a good hobby or just hang out here with the rest of us addicts!

I have been at the new job for about 2 weeks now. I told my preceptor that I found a great article on BNP online at the school library. She told me that my time is my time from here on out. I should only read job related stuff when I am at work. I find myself so excited about all this new stuff to learn that I want to peruse the journal articles. (Am I loco?) Anyways, at the end of the day she told me not to study at home. I just smiled and went on my merry way.
