How long did it take to get your license?

Hello! I passed my NCLEX-RN on January 6th, and have yet to get my license from my state board of nursing (Arkansas). Luckily I have landed a job and they are allowing me to work as a tech while I wait for my license. I am just curious to see how long it has taken others to get their license numbers posted on their BON website, or in the mail.

I took the NCLEX on 9/22, saw my name on the BON website on 9/23....and don't remember how long it took to get the paper license after that but it was pretty quick. I'm in PA and we can e-verify here. I needed a paper copy for my job but I had my license long before I got a job.

Thanks for the reply. It's been two weeks without anything. I'm starting to get worried that I'm missing something. I've searched on here for someone with a similar experience, but haven't found anything. It's kind of getting me bummed out. I called my BON and they were pretty rude and would not tell me anything. :crying2:

I think it will take around 3 months if you have a valid degree.

Well, I would think have a valid degree. I don't know what you mean by that exactly. I graduated from a public state university so I would assume it was valid. I'm curious as to where you're getting three months. Is that your experience?

i totally know how u feel....nevada is being slow about the posting license.

just read on the nevada board of nursing that it takes 2-3 weeks once you take the nclex for them to issue a license....only been a week and half...so ill be patient....i presently work as a lpn with my temp license....but my pay will greatly increase once i get a license number......

The State of Illinois issued my license about 3 weeks after I received my official Pass Letter and mailed them their check - which itself was a week and a half after I sat the exam.

The 2007 Nurse Practice Act in IL allows nurses to practice on the Pass Letter alone for up to three months while the paperwork is processing - this is legally referred to as being "Registered Nurse - License Pending". As an RN lic. pend. the new nurse must still be supervised by an experienced nurse - but you should be precepting anyway during this time period, if you're lucky enough to have found a job so quickly, so it's not much of an issue.

Graduate Nurses are not allowed to practice as Nurses in the state of IL.

I passed my boards at the end of January and have yet to receive my license. They said my background check expired since it has been over six months. It would have been December for me to have six months completed since my last background check. Strange they told me this in February and I still haven't gotten it yet and it's mid- March now. I am from New Jersey. I don't know what to tell my employers who are offering me a night full time position.
