failed out of nursing school.... now what?

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm new here so excuse me if i'm posting this tread in the wrong area. I need help! I was in my second semester of nursing school with only a year left before graduating with my BSN. I just recently failed my second course (OB/BYN) with puts me out of the program. I'm am sooo confused and mad at myself for not giving it my most. I feel like I let everyone in my family down including myself the most. I put in an appeal and just received the answer today that it was not approved. Now I dont know what my next move should be. Should I find a school that will allow me to transfer my credits that I have finished at my most recent school. Or should I just go and apply at a tech or community school and do the associate degree. I'm willing to move if i find a school that will allow me to transfer my finished credits. I'm on here looking for help to see if anyone knows any schools if there are any at all that will allow transfering of already passed nursing classes. I'm just wanting suggestions of what to do. desperate to finish nursing school. help!!!!!!!!!!:o

Hey,

I know exactly how you feel. I think if its feasable option I would try to continue in the same program. At least you won't lose out on any credits. I think you realize what you have to do so just try to stay positive and plan for the best. It's easier said then done. But, what you posted is exactly how I am feeling because i just failed my final in my last semester. Now I have to wait a year until i can redue the semester. :banghead:

I feel u. Im going through the same thing. Every obstacle that could come up in my life while attending nursing school has. The first few days I just felt depressed but I have such a supportive family that I continue to get up every morning and go about my day. I'm not going to give up and u shouldnt either. I also want to know how true it is about transfering to another school. Can I really pick up where i left off?

Of course u can! Just because u didn't make it the first time doesn't mean you never will....we all have obstacles to overcome, sometimes the timing just isn't right for nursing school and the rest that life throws at u. If you never try anything new and all you do is stagnate/exist in life....then you'll never fail at anything, but you'll never go anywhere or experience anything in life either ;)

Hi,

The same thing happened to me twice. I originally started out in the RN program in 2004 and a math test I goofed up on got me out of the program so I went back and got half way through the second time and took another math test where we had to score a 100% and I had a question where the answer was 10:00 pm but the question wanted the answer in continental time and so the right answer was 2200. Well I put 10:00 pm so that was wrong  and I didn't get the required 100% on this stand alone test and add in that I was a re-entry student, well that meant once again I was out. :banghead: It was extremely tough because I had been in the military for 10 years and I don't remember ever referring to time as continental. We always called it military time. But what I did was to step away from nursing school for awhile to do something else and really think about coming back. It is easier to just give up than to start all over. I worked in Medicaid for about a year and a half and then I decided to try it again and this time I am doing so much better. I got my grades Friday and I have all B's so right now I am carrying a 3.00 GPA. I just think sometimes that maybe when i was in the program before it just wasn't the right time. But I say all this to say hang in there. You can make it. I never really expected that I would be doing as good as I am but I came back in with a different attitude. A positive attitude and it has made all the difference. Just don't quit!!!!!

leelife,

what nursing school are you going to right now........?
