  1. Hudson county, just got hired. $30.96+3.50 night diff. No weekend rates.
  2. Hello, i am an RN from a diploma nursing school with an AS. I am also pursuing my BSN. As for the job market in NJ. It is very difficult. I would say that I receive a 0.5% response from submitting resumes that in turn lead to interviews. I am working per diem at two different facilities. But only because i knew someone that was able to help me get in. There are RN jobs but they are reserved for experienced nurses. Having a Bsn helps because so many hospitals in NJ are trying to obtain/maintain magnet status. Hope this gives you a little insight on the job market.
  3. Hey no worries bro. Just be secure in yourself. I'm not sure what type of comments your getting. But nursing is an awesome field. I know where your coming from. I was a former Marine (0311/infantry/ Oorah!) a field dominated by hardcore crazy aggressive males. As a nurse now, I think I'm lucky to be in a field dominated by caring, good hearted attractive women.
  4. Hi mjishernameo, thanks for the advise. As a current student, do you have any advice. What class are you taking?
  5. Hello, I plan on attending TESC shortly wanted to start a new post because all others seemed dated. I'm throwing a lot of questions out there to hopefully help others as well as myself. Any advise on the program? What are some of the better instructors in each nursing subject? Anyone using the state tuition waiver if so how do you submit your commanders cert? Anyone selling books for completed classes? Is it even worth purchasing all the books from the syllabus? Is there a fee to transfer credits? Any responses are greatly appreciated. Hopefully we can keep this thread current for 2012.
  6. Anyone using the ARNG tuition waiver? Ive tried contacting the veterans liaison for about a week now with no luck. The website mentions to fax all supporting docs to the registrars office because tuition waivers require additional processing. What exactly are supporting docs? I thought it was just the commanders certification. If anyone has any knowledge on this matter please advise. Thanks
  7. Also FYI , there are APA websites that will format your papers as you create them. Big help if you haven't written a research paper for nursing in awhile.
  8. Hello I'm hoping to take Nsg Informatics asap. Did you purchase the required books from the syllabus? Are they helpful? If you are done are you willing to sell them?
  9. Hello, what type of an RN school are you looking for? ADN,BSN, accelerated BSN or diploma.
  10. The prior responses appear to address many issues you will be facing. If you have prior nursing experience then 60k Is definitely a low compensation. Especially if you have to sort out existing issues. Management poisons seldom have 40hr work schedules and are highly demanding. If they plan on giving you a cell phone be prepared for frequent calls from everyone. Definitely try to negotiate a higher salary for this management position. I think 70k-77k would be appropriate.
  11. Amazing I am noticing a trend in people getting interviews and hires. I graduated received my RN license last October. I applied to numerous positions throughout the state of nj and received one call back. Unfortunately they required experience and mine consists of only clinicals in school. I was wondering if people out there are including clinical experience in school on their resumes?
  12. Hello, I know how you feel. It's a tough situation to be in. Do your best, ask questions, and be confident. Don't second guess yourself. You will be fine.
  13. I have to agree with Tyler77. Just click on the region tab and randomly select a state. Its like someone just copied and pasted the same remarks; hiring freeze, no experience, poor economy, etc. I doubt any one or collective group of people in the know would make a difference. The undivided unorganized industry of nursing can not resolve. If the "people in the know" are the same as those who outsource nurses from outside the US and cant standardize the education path to becoming a nurse (2yr, 4yr, BS+12mo and we all sit for the same exam?). I highly doubt any resolution anytime soon.
  14. It's a sad shift for the profession of nursing, new grads, and health care. It's funny how there are so many predictions about nursing shortages in the near future. Yet, we continue to prolong hiring new nurses and even outsource nurses from other countries. :angryfire
  15. Hello All,Just wanted to let everyone know the trick worked! I was pessimistic until the end. But I passed and the trick seems valid (see my previous post on pg480).
