I too am about to start my OB and Peds rotation and I have heard many people say that Peds is sooo hard. I am not sure as to what it is that makes it so hard. I am trying not to stress out too hard about it though. If anyone has any tips they would be greatly appreciated.

I see where you will be starting the Fast track program. You will have to keep me posted on that because I too want to complete this program and go ahead and fast track for my RN. I can't believe how fast this break has gone but to tell you the truth I am ready to get back and get this second semester over with. I have been working lots of 12 hour shifts at Big Baptist over the break. Gotta keep the skills fresh.

I was talking with a classmate that worked the orientation day for your class on the 29th and she said that your class has a total of 133 freshman accepted. Wow that is a lot. We started with I think 98 and we were busting at the seams. Anyway just want to wish you good luck and if at all possible try to sit as close to the front of the class as possible.

Aahhhh yes we did get the list of abbreviations along with several chapters to read and take notes over for Med surg and pharm as well as about 7 chapters in the peds book and 5 in the OB book. The day we went out on break our instructors were like have fun and get some rest. Yeah right. We are still in school we just aren't going out to the campus. I have been busy over the break working as a PCT at Big Baptist and I am finding it fun. In between I am doing the Meds Pub and trying to get myself prepared for January. I really want to enjoy this semester and not stress out too much. I really appreciate all the tips too its nice to talk to someone who has been where I am attempting to go. I will stay in touch. I have heard people say that the first semester is the hardest but I have also heard that when we start back in January it is going to be tough for the first couple of weeks and then it will settle down. A lot of my class is still stressing about the Hesi also. Did you really enjoy second semester?? I just want to get the skinny on what I have to look forward to. I am excited though and you were so right about the cliques. I have a small study group and I try to avoid all the rest of that nonsense

I am very late in seeing your posts but I am currently in the Baptist LPN program and just made it to second semester, Junior Status. In my class that started in July 2008 we started with about 90 students. We have 63 I believe right now. The program is very doable but just be ready to buckle down and study and get with a good study group. The program moves fast and you either get it or you don't. Just don't let yourself get behind. Good luck and remember it is doable. Relax and you will be fine.

Hi, The same thing happened to me twice. I originally started out in the RN program in 2004 and a math test I goofed up on got me out of the program so I went back and got half way through the second time and took another math test where we had to score a 100% and I had a question where the answer was 10:00 pm but the question wanted the answer in continental time and so the right answer was 2200. Well I put 10:00 pm so that was wrong and I didn't get the required 100% on this stand alone test and add in that I was a re-entry student, well that meant once again I was out. It was extremely tough because I had been in the military for 10 years and I don't remember ever referring to time as continental. We always called it military time. But what I did was to step away from nursing school for awhile to do something else and really think about coming back. It is easier to just give up than to start all over. I worked in Medicaid for about a year and a half and then I decided to try it again and this time I am doing so much better. I got my grades Friday and I have all B's so right now I am carrying a 3.00 GPA. I just think sometimes that maybe when i was in the program before it just wasn't the right time. But I say all this to say hang in there. You can make it. I never really expected that I would be doing as good as I am but I came back in with a different attitude. A positive attitude and it has made all the difference. Just don't quit!!!!!

Hi everyone, I am Tina and I am 33 years old with a 4 year old daughter and a dear husband and I started today with Orientation and I will be taking Human Anatomy and Physiology I, Chemistry with a lab, English Comp and Sociology along with my Freshman nursing classes. I will have a full plate but I am up for the challenge. I will graduate in December 2006. Good luck to everybody!!!!

Congratulations to you!!! God always has a plan for those who keep the faith and hang in there. I was curious what kind of scholarship program do you have at your school and how does it work exactly??
