Hi,

I graduated in December with a BSN and already received my authorization to test and scheduled my NCLEX!!!! I am completely beyond nervous and can't decide if it's better to just take it and get it over with in a few weeks or wait longer.

Most of my teachers have said to take it SOON. Is anyone else nervous?

It could have been one of the experimental questions. Plus, you ARE allowed to miss some, you know. Hee. So don't freak yourself out over random facts... know your basics and how to prioritize care based on those basics, and you'll be fine.

Whomever asked about the validity of the sample tests... I worked with ALL the books and sample question disks out there, I think. We took the Mosby faux-NCLEX at school, too. I got "94% probability of passing" on the Mosby, but on every other study program I was scoring in the 60%-70% range. I just found out I passed :D and I am here to tell you the real NCLEX questions were a lot easier (in my opinion) than the Kaplan and Saunders ones... at least for me. That said, I do feel like the money I spent on Kaplan was worth it, because it really taught me how to read the questions and their rationale was really helpful. Most of the other programs / books / disks were not nearly as helpful. Just my 2 cents, your mileage may vary.

Hi NurseWeasel, RN :)

Congrats on passing the NCLEX! You mentioned that you used the Saunders and Kaplan disks for review. I am using the Saunders CD and text to review for the NCLEX myself and at the time cannot afford the Kaplan disk/study course. Do you feel the questions on the Saunders disk and in the text are sufficienct enough to pass? Thanks for your opinion and advice, I appreciate it.

Nervous RN grad about to take the NCLEX soon here,

nurstudnt546 :o

I was pinned 12/17/04, got my ATT 1/1/05, and my NCLEX was scheduled 2/10/05, but b/c I have to DO JURY DUTY (how lame...I even told them about NCLEX and they could care less), I have pushed it back to 2/17/05.

I start my new job w/my IP license 2/15/05 in the PICU!!!!!

I am taking Kaplan right now (I have the completely online version) and it IS SO GOOD!!!! My scores have gone up 20% from my initial diagnostic scores!

Yes, I think Saunders will be fine. Really, my best advice is what other people have said... you KNOW this stuff. It's in there. Review your basic lab values and medications, and READ THE RATIONALE for every test question you take. That's what truly helped me the most - because NCLEX thinking isn't nursing school thinking, but once you figure out NCLEX thinking you'll have it made. Don't just read the rationale for the questions you miss... read EVERY ONE. Best of luck to you.

Got my ATT on Dec. 23, took it on January 6th, by the 8th I found out I had passed!

I spent a week at school doing the ERI review course and then a week at home using the Mosby NCLEX review book. I took it as early as possible because the hospital where I am working requires you to have your license before your start date.

The test was very difficult. The thing that comforted me the most was knowing that 85% of the students pass on the first try and 99% of students from my school (Uof MD) pass on the first try. With odds like that I felt like I would be more likely to win the lottery than I would to fail NCLEX! ;)

Anyway, What a relief it's over!!!! :balloons: :balloons:

Good luck everyone!!!

Congratulations Pixel!!!!!!!!!

Where can I look to find out all of the dates for the NCLEX? I would like to see what is the closest possible date for me to take it when I get out of school.

Gosh.... still waiting for my ATT :o Not sure what the hold up is. Blah.

Congratulations Pixel!!!!!!!!!

From what I understand, You have to have your ATT (appointment to test) before you can see the possible dates. Therefore, you would probably have to wait until you are already out of school to find the dates.

I could be wrong, though.

Good luck!!

The testing centers won't even talk to you until you have your ATT, they test every weekday but only have so many slots available. Many other types of test are taken there besides NCLEX, insurance, real estate etc so only so at times you may have to wait up to 3 weeks if your area has alot of gradutates of not only nursing school but many other types too!! I went to the Pearson web site and got some of that info and our Director told us allot of it too. Our program went over all that with us when they had us to start on the paper work

so I am sure yours will too!!

Hello! I'm in WA state. Graduate Dec. 10, got my ATT December 22nd, scheduled for December 29th and got my pass results on New Years Eve! WooHoo! NOW I am STILL working as a NAC because the hospital I work for is in the middle of a hiring freeze and can't hire me! Whaaaah!

However, I just interviewed yesterday at a rural hospital that seemed very interested, so we'll see......
