I'm afraid of CPNE NO experience

I need clinical experience prior to my CPNE, no nursing home experience, no hospital setting; just a nurse in a doctors office. I'm almost done with my courses with excelsior and I fear the CPNE being that the last time I even took a BP was in 2012. If anyone has any information in regards to clinical experience please let me know.

I have been an lpn for 2 1/2 years, I live in NJ, Im an allergy nurse I basically loss all of my training and clinical experience with in those 2 years, I probably couldn't even take a patients blood pressure at this point in time. I verify insurance all day, call patients, test them for allergies and if they are a candidate I make their mess, the only thing clinically that I do is teach patient how to give injections and educate them on their allergies and epi-pen. The reason I decided to write this article is because I wanted to know if there are places that have training for me were I can gain skills prior to me taking the CPNE. I need more then 3 days i want intense training, I would prefer if it was free were I would be volunteering. Please help if you have any information. Thanks☺😊

I would also love some advice on this as well ! I have been in home health for years, and need to do some intensive training to get my skills where they need to be for the clinicals. I just got enrolled with Excelsior , and have a couple of core classes to go before I get into the theory . Any advice on clinicals and the classes would be greatly appreciated! Thanks:)

Be sure to study the skills and practice them daily. Do it exactly like the forms say. Also, memorize some type of rubrik that will help you organize yourself for clinicals. That way you don't leave out anything that will cause a fail. Let me be clear - the CPNE is intimidating. You have paid a lot of money and it is do or die. I elected to go to Utica NY because I wanted proctors who are close to the College, who may have more direct experience with the college, and perhaps proctored more exams. I don't know if this theory is true, but it was how I decided where to go. They were professional and fair, nobody was "out to get you." This was how I wanted it, professionals who are looking for others who could perform professionally. Whatever method you use, do it faithfully and do not alter. Set up a room with a fake patient and go over every possible scenario. Seems dorky, but when you have so much on the line, you will be glad you did.

Bumping this thread..I passed in NOV, graduated in Jan..been working as an RN for 3 months. For cpne..you need teamwork to prep. Get on the official EC student discussion forum..under "my EC community" also..get on the "lets conquer the cpne beast" fb group..from there there are a few more good ones..one just for care planning the ec way..prepare..I passed my 1st try at Utica but was lost when I first read the study guide..it is doable but there are strategies..Christy Rodriguiz (spelling?) has cpne boot camp..google it..great care planning on line course, also on site classes in FL and she travels..she is great. Sheri Taylor has some on line stuff I would recommend to watch for a month or two (monthly charge)..do the EC cp's first with your adviser..make your weekly calls to EC even if you don't know what to talk about.. use mnemonics for critical elements.. but don'[t do it alone..there are many students paying stuff forward if you look...same with nclex.. get on that beast group.. Good Luck it is doable

(West Coast) Tina has started her prep courses again, now in Stockton CA. Info at cheducation dot com. She has a tried and true approach that works and a lot of her info can be found online at that website. Another good source is Rob's CPNE prep, but he stopped his business. Look on ebay to see if anyone is selling Rob's DVD's. Combining Tina's method and Rob's method together and practicing over and over will give you the same chance at passing that others have going in to the CPNE.

Be cautious with Robs..back when I was doing CPNE his were considered outdated. Remember critical elements change with each SG..missing one can result in a failure. Get on those groups..interact with other students..talk to advisers etc. The new SG comes out each Nov..go through both versions if it applies to you..lI went page by page..found lots of changes not listed by EC in their "list of changes"..I'm a little over the top though..

If you feel you need experience to get your skills up to par then find experience. Look for and apply for a per diem job where you will be using the skills you feel you lost. trust me a rehab or nursing home will hire you and orient you. I work a full time job in mental health and I still work per diem at my last job (rehab) to keep my skills in check. Where there is a will, there is a way.

Hello all, I found this site so I'll try not to ask any dum questions. First thing, I'm a member at robscpne site and there doesn't appear to be anything out of date (and it's definitely open). My friend just passes her test a couple of weeks ago using his stuff so it's why I signed up. I know he has a double your money back guarantee so I feel that anyone willing to do that should have some decent info. I attended his monthly care plan class and I learned a lot. My queston is, how can I sign up for Exelsior's care plan class? Does it cost money or is it free for cpne eligibal students?
