How do u know when you're ready for the cpne

I'm sure there has been MANY students who thought they were reafy and still did not pass the cpne. How do you know when you are really ready?

For me, it was when I could rattle off my mnemonics for any AOC without thinking, when I knew the steps of each lab forward and backward (and had practiced them until I couldn't stand it any longer), I was relatively comfortable with careplanning and knew where the diagnoses I could relate to the AOCs were in my Mosby's book, and I had practiced lots of documentation. But even with all that, I was not sure I was ready! Haha. I think the best you can do is to really prepare and hope it's enough. :-)

I chose a date 4 months out and when I got that day it really pushed me to practice, practice, practice. I worked at it but until the date was set in stone I didn't really push myself. Guess I needed that motivation, after I got my date I practices hours and hours every single day. I passed CPNE one year ago today - a fantastic Mother's Day gift to me!! :yes:

I was like Lunah by the time it came around I could recite my mnemonics in my sleep and do those labs with my eyes shut, plus I could write a careplan without the Mosby's book but you can bet I sure used it during CPNE!! And still when my CPNE weekend rolled around I thought why didn't I take a few more months - :roflmao: Good Luck!!!!

Can anyone offer a suggestion for the best way to start studying for the CPNE?

I just turned in my application-its in review. I've skimmed the study guide.. What next?

READ the guide. Back when I tested (2010), chapter 4 was soul of the CPNE. That section teaches you about the assigned areas of care and how you need to perform your assessments. You will need to gather supplies to practice with and EC sells them in the form of a kit for a very reasonable price. Good luck!
