Nursing Students Excelsior

After stalking allnurses.com for months for information and inspiration, I finally enrolled this November, and have scheduled my first test (Transitions) for the end of this month. I am so thrilled to be back in school and have missed it extremely since I graduated LPN school in June! After passing my NCLEX-PN I am now working at a great doctors office which is a awesome job to have while pressing on and diving into the great journey to get my RN! Any advice on study plans, motivators, and must-have books, are greatly appreciated. I already have been using the studyguide101 notes, and utilizing the excelsior practice exams which have been invaluable. Thanks everyone!

Did EC get their accreditation back? They lost it a few years ago. I am looking for a school but don't want to waste my time if their not accredited.

I know that EC has been continuously NLNAC-accredited (and regionally accredited as well) since at least 2005 when I started looking for programs. When did they ever lose their accreditation?

congrats!

I never heard that they lost accred. Some states are not allowing grads as there is no clinical instruction.

I just saw this today at California Board of Nursing website"Decision Regarding Excelsior CollegeThe California Board of Registered Nursing adopted the following motion at its board meeting on February 6, 2004:"The following action supersedes and replaces the December 5, 2003, Board action related to Excelsior College:""Excelsior College graduates, like other out-of-state graduates, must meet the requirements set forth in California Business and Professions Code Section 2736, including supervised clinical practice concurrent with theory, in order to be eligible for examination and licensure as a California registered nurse. This eligibility requirement applies to students who enrolled at Excelsior on or after December 6, 2003."

yup that's the one. Same reason many out of country nurses can't get licensed there either.

It seems to me that if you can motivate yourself, direct your own study and pass these exams all on your own, that we'd get more respect than some of the 'nurses' I've met who come strait out of a 'formal' college and don't seem to know much....but they can get endorsed in almost any state - go figure!!:cautious:
