Excelsior College Paramedic to RN Bridging Program

Nursing Students Excelsior

Are there any current students doing the Paramedic to RN Bridging Program through Excelsior College? I would love to hear about your experience so far. I am in NC and am ready to apply to Excelsior. TCN almost had me roped in but I read too much negativity about them and their costs. Everyone please share your experiences with Excelsior with me. Thx so much!!!

I'm a paramedic and I think the excelsior experience is great so far.. I have used one TCN study guide for microbiology and I think it did help a bit although I probably could have fared well without it too.. I almost got sucked in my the College Network myself; thank God I didnt't go through with it! Excelsior is just fine without the added stress and money of TCN. A co-worker of mine actually paid all the extra money with TCN and she loves it; I just think it's unnecessary..

SG 101 is a GREAT resource I've used it for 3 of my classes and am currently using it for my Transitions class (along w/ the textbook and practice exams). I also like the fact that the academic advisors are knowledgeable and always have an answer to my question no matter how silly lol..

sorry - it was 4 nursing exams and 1 pre-req course but I passed life span 1 yesterday (woot!!) so now I'm at 5 nursing exams. I started in July and wanted to be done by December but it's not gonna happen :sniff: (cash resources are not cooperating). I started out doing 2 at a time, but it gets a little expensive and I'm also trying to save for the clinical weekend at the same time, so a more moderate pace will have to do.

Natnat... did you use SG101 for Micro? I have about 5 or 6 different resources. I started with 'Demystified'... was considering SG101. Let me know! When do you take the exam?

For Micro I used the TCN Study Guide and the EC Practice Exams. I studied the Practice exam question and answers relentlessly and I went through each chapter of the study guide (until I got tired lol).. I should have tried sg101 for Micro but it just didn't occur to me to.. If you use it let me know if it helps.. I take the Transitions exam on Friday God willing!

Don't be embarass you doing good so far and it's very expensive!

I AGREE! While College Network are "nice people" they don't DO squat-their notes SUCK- totally worthless - no reference to the excellent micro text excelsior uses-really- what does college network do? nothing! AND the "running around" - college network-> Excelsior->PearsonVUE for exams is insane; but once you "get hang of system" it is cool-Excelsior is valid in my state (Kentucky) NOT in California, folks!!

Bottom line: scout the terrain before you "jump in"- and somebody please tell me- why does the college network exist????
