Looking for clinical managers!

So I am considering putting in for my clinic's facility manager position. I think I'm aware of most of the pros and cons of it but am looking for a CM who doesn't regret doing it. Is the pay increase significant compared to floor nursing? I never thought myself that ambitious but my clinic is veryyyy small (census 36) MWF only so I feel the size of the clinic is manageable, we have good outcomes, pleasant patients and really good staff. I've reworked the pt schedule into a pretty good day experience. ....maybe I just really like my current job as the single nurse who works here! Any input from my fellow dialysis family? (I'm FMC by the way, NE Ohio area)

Nobody can prepare you for how you will be as a clinical manager. You already know the workload you may just need to jump in and test the water.

I enjoyed management for a long time, now I will never do it again-but I wouldnt be where I am now if I hadnt tried it first!

PS depending on whether you are salaried or not will depend on whether the pay is adequate for what you do

Be aware that you could apply and receive this position, and upper management could possibly call this move lateral which means you get the title, without a change in pay.

Well this was a month ago, but I will post anyway. Getting some management experience is a good thing. If the clinic is a good one then I would go for it.

Thanks for all of the replies! Short version: I decided not to persue it at this time. So many reasons none of them great reasons but I know that essentially it's always going to be there someday just in case. I like my job the way it is, I'm happy doing what I do. Maybe I'll wait out the next manager or two and revisit tbe idea :)

Are you still on the floor or did you try management?

What a great memory, posting these a few years ago. I did end up in management and I love it! It's challenging but I found my niche. Love it.
