Do it if it something you really want!!!!! i believe 60% ofgetting in is your grades and the other 40 is pot luck. I know they want A&P I to be an a 50 % GPA 25% TEAS and the other 25 is A&P I.

I know this is not what you asked for but hope it gives you an idea

This varies from school to school; some of them rely much more heavily on the TEAS than others and some of them only look as certain sections of the TEAS. If you really want to know, call the school you're applying to and ask. I would also ask about the number of people who apply vs. how many actually get in. I think this will give you a better idea of your overall chances, assuming you don't completely fail one area. Good luck!

As jdoll mentioned, the admission criteria are: 50% gpa, 25% TEAS test score and 25% A&P I grade. However, once all applicants are ranked based on those criteria, 60% of each school is admitted based on the rank. After they fill that 60%, the rest of the applicants with the minimum requirements (can't remember off the top of my head, but it's on the websites), are put into a pool and 40% of the class is picked by lottery. So, even if you're not in the top part of the applicant pool, you can be accepted. Personally, I'm not a fan of that system, but it is what it is. As for me personally, I'll be starting Three Rivers in the fall. My GPA was about a 3.6, I scored a 90% on the TEAS and I got an A in A&P I. I have no way of knowing whether I was ranked in the top 60% or got in through the lottery. But that's my stats. Good luck.

Competitively you need an B+ - A in Anatomy 1, 80+ on your Teas, and a 3.6 GPA to remain really competitive. Idealy you will have higher, but remember 40% of the seats are random selection of the minimum requirements.

What was your GPA/A&P1 grade/TEAS score?
I'm trying to determine how much competition there is getting into the community college nursing program. I plan on applying to Capital, specifically, since it's the closest to me.
My GPA was 3.8, A&P I grade was B+, and TEAS score was 88 (98th percentile). I don't have any way of knowing whether I was selected by rank or lottery.

im applying to norwalk as first choice, also westconn (which i dont need TEAS for) thank gosh. and BHSN.

Just took my TEAS today..should have studied. i got a 69.1. prolly take it again maybe. but my GPA i 3.76 and my A&P 1 score was an A- which i took in the summer. ekk. thenational average now for th TEAS is a 71.9? jeez. what do u think my chances are to get in?

I'm trying to determine how much competition there is getting into the community college nursing program. I plan on applying to Capital, specifically, since it's the closest to me.
I'm taking a few classes in the fall & summer, and plan on applying for the RN program later this year. I already have my bachelors degree in biology, but I don't want waste my money if they only choose people with perfect GPAs and TEAS scores.

There is INCREDIBLE competition to get into this program, but it is worth it. As far as perfect GPAs and TEAS scores, as previously mentioned, count as 50% and 25% of admission, respectively. The remaining 25% is your A&P I grade. However, and keep this in mind as these are 2 very important points: a.) 60% is based on ranking, and 40% is based on a lotto. So no, not every person that is accepted is at the top of the pool. Some students with a 2.7 GPA, B- in A&P I, and 65% on the TEAS were accepted over kids with far better statistics due to the lotto; and b.) your GPA is based on 5 years worth of grades, and grades that are pre-reqs for the course (English, Bio, Computers, etc.) are factored to create one final GPA.

For example, you have gone to three schools, one of which is one of the CT CC schools. The admissions takes your transcripts up to 5 years past, calculate quality points and grades, and formulates a GPA. If you took your English 25 years ago and received an A, that A will come into play also, but not grades that are older than 5 years that are NOT pre-reqs for the program.

I do think that competition for this year's class will be less than last year. 2 years ago some requirements were changed, so students had to take an extra year to meet these requirements, leading to a huge applicant pool for the 2010-2011 year. I don't think that will happen for the 2011-2012 year.

So yes, if you are serious about nursing, then you will apply and you will be determined and stick with it no matter what. I personally was wait listed and was heart broken. However, I stuck with it, stayed positive, and was called to start the program in the Spring.

I am looking to applying for one of CT Nursing programs hopefully by next year, dows anyone know if these colleges accept credits from online classes taken at Clovis Community College New Mexico and Charter Oak State Colleges. I will not do all my classes online but I wanted a jump start since the are excelerated classes and start more frequently than traditional schools.
