A&P Pre-reqs and CCCOnline class

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hello,

I am trying to register for A&P I this summer. I would like to take both I and II online with CCCOnline. Has anyone been able to sign up for A&P with CCCOnline if you didn't have the BIO pre-reqs? I REALLY want to take the classes so that I am finshed by December with both courses, but I haven't had BIO since high school. :( I have contacted a Biology professor at my local community college who says I MUST take the pre-req course.

Or, if you took a placement exam to get into the A&P course, would you mind sharing with me what you were tested on?

Thanks in advance!!!

You can't do them at the same time and honestly it would be really really if not impossible to get a good grade in taking both at the same time. I did amazing in BIO 106but BIO 201 is kicking my butt and is really demanding more then I could of ever imagined.

Thanks for the reply Coloradogrl! Don't worry I am not trying to take them at the same time! I would like to take A&PI this summer and A&PII this fall.

Are you taking BIO201 with CCCOnline?

I think I had to take BIO111 before enrolling into A&P1 through CCCOnline. A&P through CCCOnline were really difficult for me, but Microbiology and Chemistry were easier. I have a friend who took A&P1 through CCCOnline last summer and it consumed her life..just something to think about if you don't absolutley have to take in the summer I wouldn't because a regular 15 week semester in those 2 classes is A LOT of work.

Good Luck!!

I took them all online, but I did have to take Bio 105 as a pre-req to AP. I took AP2 during the summer along with Micro and Psych. It was a lot during the summer, but I did fine. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them for you. :)

I think I might of miss understood you :) you don't HAVE to take BIO 105/106 you can get right into BIO 201 if you have taken a BIO before like in High School or you can ask a counselor to sign off you going right in. I was able to go right in but knew I would need a refresher course and I am glad I did.

I don't mind taking it online but it is the only class out of all the online classes that had made me wish I didn't :( BIO 105 was super easy online BIO 201 a lot of days I really wish I would of taken it on campus.

Thanks everyone for the help!! Unfortunately, I do have to take A&PI this summer so that I can be finished with A&PII by December. The schools I want to apply at require me to have all science courses completed before I can even submit my application in April. Gahh! Keeping my fingers crossed that they accept my high school Bio or Chem class!

I tested out of the BIO prerequisite for AP and started directly with the core prerequisites (Micro, AP, etc). However, I had had a Bio 101 for non-science majors for my previous Bachelor degree and that helped me immensely. Honestly, the topics were almost all the same, just a little bit more in depth. I tested out of the course just fine, but it took a couple of weeks of intense study time.

Also, I took AP II hybrid (lecture online, lab on campus) and it is pretty tough to take those classes online. If you are good about self-teaching and know how to get the information you need if you do not understand it from your textbook then you can be successful. Otherwise, I would suggest you sacrifice this upcoming application round and take the class on campus where you will have personal contact with your instructor and co-students. In the end, a higher GPA is more important to get you into a school then the month you applied in.

Have you already decided which schools you want to apply to?

I took Bio I and A&P I concurrent (and Bio II and A&P II) concurrent and got As all around. CMC. I'm good at that stuff too. Call the school and ask.

Yep, Regis and UC Denver. I want to be able to get my UCDenver app in by April to be in the early review group.

Nice, I applied to those two last fall plus Metro. Good schools  Don't worry too much about making priority deadline, I understood that it is only a very small number of applicants who get offered a spot at priority deadline, and that the majority gets its "proper" review with the rest of the applicants later that year. Might have changed in the meantime though.

How does the online option work for these classes with labs? Do you do a simulated online lab? I can't imagine how you would do the dissections....
