Challenging the board for LPN in Colorado

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hello everyone!

Does anyone know how to challenge the board for the LPN nclex exam in the state of Colorado? My school is a private college and does not offer the option of taking the lpn board exam for the BSN program. I was in a BSN program and i failed one of my classes in my 5th quarter of the BSN program (which takes 7 quarters to complete), and was informed to come apply for readmission in a year time. I think i have the clinical knowledge and several years of experience in health care field which will be advantage for me to sit for the LPN nclex board exam. Please if anyone have any idea of how to go about challenging the board, i'd appreciate your input. Thanks in advance.

Does the Colorado BON allow this option? Many states don't -- the only way to be eligible for LPN licensure is to complete a Board-approved LPN program. That would be your starting point, I would think. (If your school "does not offer the option" of pursuing LPN licensure part-way through the RN program, that's probably an indication that the state BON doesn't permit it.)

According to DORA, you need to have graduated from a board-approved PN program in order to take the NCLEX-PN.

I agree with the other two comments above. I do not know of any BON that will allow this. I do know that if you are in an RN program once you have had a certain amount of clinical hours they will let you take the CNA boards. Sorry! I would recommend getting back into a nursing program ASAP! I wish you the best of luck :)

Call the Board to verify that Colorado does not allow this.
