Anyone do a CNA program in the summer?

Since I can't find any past class schedules, I'm wondering if anyone has done a summer CNA program at a community college. I know there is class and a lab, but after a certain number of weeks of that you start clinicals and that's all you do. In the summer, did you have to take classes all summer, or was it only for a few weeks? Were the clinicals flexible? I'm asking because I'd like to see if it is possible to finish it in shorter than 10 weeks.

OR, if you're a nurse in Colorado, were you able to take the CNA license exam after a certain class in in nursing school (I think Med/Surge)?

hello! I took the CNA program through Front Range in Fort Collins over the summer a few years ago. The class/lab was Tues and Thurs from 6-10 for a few weeks in Loveland, then 3 days of clinical at a nursing home in Loveland.

If you've finished your first semester in a nursing program, you are eligible to take the CNA exam. Getting a CNA job is a very good way to get a job when nursing school is done. Believe me, I wish I had!

That's great to know. I guess I'll wait to see if I've been accepted and take the exam when eligible. If I don't get in than a CNA class is probably in order :)

I will do the same thing IrishMama... if I don't get into CU, then I'll be taking a CNA class this summer.

I will be doing the same thing if I do not get into CU this summer. Even if I do, I plan to get my certification while in Nursing school. I think it will be a great experience, and a way to make some connections. Sand Dollar, do you have any place in mind for CNA training?

ada324 - I am going to take it at FRCC, Westminster. It is relatively close to me (30 min), has one of the higher pass rates (86%), and is not that expensive (about 441.00).

I just moved up to Fort Collins (loving it!) and thinking about taking the CNA class at Front Range CC. It is supposed to be a good school, and since I missed te spring semester deadline, I am looking into summer.
