taking nursing prereq's while taking CNA course

Hello..I am about to begin an evening CNA program that is twice a week. I would like to also start taking a prereq class now to get things underway...they offer ENG101 on a saturday for 15 weeks or a summer course online whichis 8 weeks.

background is I am a stay at home mom with two toddlers and my hubby works alotof hours during the week.

has anyone taking ENG101 along with their CNA program and if so was it very difficult? this is all new to me so I'm trying to take baby steps with one course at a time for prereq :lol2:

taking the CNA program to gain experience in the health field. Also figured I could work part time after the program.I have always worked in an office enviroment before havng a family.This is all new to me but something I finally have the opportunity to go for.

Well, being a stay at home mom to toddlers which is alot of work and a must to keep patience and give them all the love you have. I would not take on more than the CNA class. Especially if your husband works with overtime and is the bread winner right now. Your husband and your children need you to be 100% wife and mom and not stressed out about school. The CNA is not so difficult and I think you will probably be fine. Best wishes to you whatever you decide.

I'm also starting a CNA class next month that is twice a week, and I decided to only take that class. I'm waiting till next semester to start prereq's to mainly ensure I do the best I can, while balancing it with work. I'm not a mother so I can't imagine how much stress could possibly be added but I was advised to only take an elective with the cna class and not any thing majorly important. If I decided to. I did Psych on sat'days fall 2009 because Im in the same situation. Spring I will be doing Bio on Sat'days and Chem on Sundays so I can do A&P1 in the fall.

Do what you can on the weekends and if you can find anything at nights. Eng101 is not difficult, I cant do online classes, I have to sit in a classroom lol.

I will be doing the 9-2 m-f CNA.

What is this, the 1950s? Would you be saying the same thing if the husband wasn't making enough money and she HAD to work?

The CNA class is not hard. You may as well take the Eng101 with it, especially if it's on Saturdays and childcare is not an issue. Taking it now means one less thing you'll have to take later.

Hi there!...yeah I think I will do that..so tell me how difficult was Psych? where are you taking Bio and Chem on the wkends ?

I see most of the spring courses are already full at SCCC, which is where I go since its nearby..

Why not take the Eng 101 class Online? It will give you more freedom to schedule your time. You must be very disciplined but you can stay up all hours of the night and work on assignments, etc and still be at home with the little ones. Just one more thing to consider! The CNA course isn't hard (pretty basic stuff) it was just practicing for the State Board Exam that requires a lot of time...at least it did for me because I wanted to make sure I passed. No, its not the 1950's.....just giving my opinion of "family first" way of life to someone who I take as a young Mom. Its my opinion and I'm allowed to give it here. And, if someone had to work because their husband didn't make enough to support his family while the Mom is home raising babies, well, they have to work and have someone co-raise the children with them. But that wasn't her question.

Definitely take English class online. I don't know how you do feel about it but I find online classes easier then regular ones.

I took CNA class with Bio and Chem and I did fine (got A in both). CNA stuff is a common sense. I did not have a time to read a book for this class and study for state exam ( which is not hard at all) and I passed it. But that was me.
