OMG surprise call! I need advice!!

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hi everyone!

So I am so nervous and scared. 6 months ago I applied at this rehab facility and I knew they weren't hiring but I still left my resume and application, 3 weeks ago I got a call from the nurse at this facility asking if I was still interested but I was at work so I missed her call and whenever I would call her back, she wasn't in so I left her messages. I didn't hear back from her so I was convinced she changed her mind about me and I had given up. BUT, 15 mins ago, she called me and wants to interview me tomorrow morning! Aaaah!!

It's been so long since I last was interviewed and I'm not sure how confident I feel. I'm very shy and get really nervous so I need help from my fellow CNA's here...

1. Help me out, how do I relax and make myself less nervous and more confident.

2. What type of questions will they ask me and how should I answer?

3. Also, I need to do some shopping for interview clothes, what should I wear? Its raining here, so something warm?

Thanks so much,

I had totally given up on finding a CNA job, but this is a really good opportunity and better pay, but I'm so nervous, I've only had one CNA interview before and didn't get the job and that was over a year ago. Advice, please! :nailbiting:

Specializes in MICU, SICU, CICU.

Hair pulled back, conservative makeup and jewelry, no fragrances, light or clear nail polish a white blouse and khaki pants with a sweater and good shoes not athletic shoes, is appropriate.

Mentally prepare a brief one to two minute introduction about yourself, where you are from, when you graduated, and your work experience. It is very tacky and off putting to say anything negative about previous employers. Mention long term goals if you plan to go back to school.

Just be yourself. You will do fine.

Breathe!;)

Do a google search on interview questions and answer them. This way you will know how to respond to some common interview questions, and you will feel comfortable answering them. Be professional, honest, and more importantly be yourself. And don't forget any questions you may have...about the facility, types of patients, etc.

Dress professionally, of course. And walk into it feeling confident. Remember to smile and thank them for their time.

Good Luck!

Hi nlitened , can you share the site where you find your interview questions . I know by Google but would you mind share the site . I've been looking for a good one with no luck . Thanks

Same thing happened to me. I just passed the State Competency exam on Sunday, and they called me yesterday for an interview. I'm so nervous and don't do very good in interviews. I get so nervous that I can't talk right and don't know what to say to certain questions lol. Good luck let us know how it goes. :)

As mentioned by others you want to make sure you give a great first impression. Business casual, think along the lines of what would be appropriate to go to church with your grandmother, no jeans, sweatshirts or ratty sweaters. Dress pants, blouse or nice sweater, if you choose to wear heels make sure they are a sort heel, no stilettos. Light on the make up, hair professional, if long pulled back if short nicely styled. Think of your previous experience and what you have that will make you an asset to the company. If you have had previous experience working with rehab patients definitely try to fit that in. What are your strengths, expectations, and plans. If you are able to find out what their mission statement is, or at least an idea of it and how would you fit into it as a member of the health team. Also if you don't have experience as a CNA, think about other jobs you have had and how those experiences would help you in this job, working in customer service, having a job in which you had to manage time well, or even a job that required you to adaptable learning new skills. Hopefully this gives you some ideas. Finally as said by others, breathe and be yourself
