Hello All!

Have a few questions about CNA. I just past my skills and written part of the State Board Exam and I am a Certified Nursing Assistant. I am so happy and excited to what the next few weeks/months will bring.

I have been filling out job applications and I know they will not even consider me until I was certified. Now that I am, it is one job that I want really bad. I did my clinicals at a nursing home and I am familar with the people. The shifts are from either 3-11 or 11-7. I had talked to someone about my application and they told me I will be considered after I was certified. I hope I get this job because it has been 2 long years since I worked and my daughter is growing up to fast for me not to be working.

I question to you guys is how long did it take for you to land your first position after you became certified?

Keep me in your prayers.

I start my orientation on Wednesday and I'll have my certificationby the end of January. I can't wait to start working. I'll keep you posted on my job hunt when I'm done with my training. Good luck to you all!

It took me a year. I think I only finally got a break was when I started to apply to LTCs. I started on 11-7 and love it. I think I applied to the hospital 200 times.

Thank You for all the advice! Hopefully the Lord will bless me so that I can begin working in the new year! Really hope that it is in his will

My situation was totally different than yours because I was first hired as a non-medical hospital employee but when I wanted to try out the medical side my hospital paid for my CNA training.

However when I had to move to a different part of the state, I lived with my parents and it took me 4 months to find a job. But then all of a sudden in June 2008 I got 3 offers in 2 days. I think it had something to do with quarterly budgets. I bet when January rolls around all the great people here that need jobs will see the offers coming in.

Hospitals are really funny about money. Sometimes they get a random grant and they have to spend a lot of money fast or else they don't the grant, and other times they're broke until the quarter is over and then a new quarter begins and they spend up all their money in the first month and then they're broke again until the next quarter.

i didn't apply for a job for over a year of having my certification, because of other personal commitments and what not, but once i applied for jobs it only took me about two weeks. i actually got the first job i applied for and the one i wanted the most. i've been working there for four months and i absolutely love it.

i hope you find something soon, good luck with your search

I got the first job I applied for at an assisted living center and about a month before I took the state test.

Well I simply hate waiting (one of my flawes), so I applied to two more places today. I hope some of the tips I learned from people work and someone calls me at the start of the new year. Thank you guys for your experiences and words of encouragement. Keep them coming!

What is a LTC? What state are you in? Are you under 50?
