Interviewed in August

I was interviewed at an assisted living facility with memory care in August. I was just beginning my clinical studies at the time. I finally got a call back yesterday to come to the facility on Friday to do a TB Skin Test and Drug Screening. I'm very excited. I take my state exam on the 11th of October. I really thought I didn't get the job because it was so long since I have heard from them. :)

Good for you. It seems that it was a good thing that it took this long seeing that you have not taken your state exam yet. Now you are in the right time frame to be hired and be able to take your test. If they would have called you for September to start they might not have been able to hire you anyways seeing as you did not take your exam yet.

I really depends on the facility and the packages they offer. I personally found with where I work that it is far better to work part time (which I am able) and purchase my health insurance through the ACA.

I hear what you are saying. I do need a lot more medical insurance than average...and when I did a quote (not with the company, but individually), I would be paying over 500 per month, which does not include vision or dental.

My step daughter told me the same thing as you just did. She said this is the reason why she (a college student) did not purchase insurance through the ACA. What she did not realize is that the quote does NOT take into account the tax credit from the government. Her quote was $463. a month, but then she filled out the "paperwork" they were able to caculate the tax credit given (based on her projected income)and it meant her final payment each month was less that $50. a month. This was fairly good insurance for her...a $450. year deductible and a $15. co-pay for visits.

AND, She gets free dental from the county because, as a college student, she is "low income".

Would I need to go to my local health department? I know I do not qualify for some stuff, such as Medicaid. But, if I could get the insurance I need for less, I'll apply.
