How intense is the CNA course?

That doesn't sound like too much of a course load to me. I did my CNA class with a similar schedule a few years back and handled it just fine. If you've already done some nursing pre-reqs, you'll be a little ahead even. My CNA class met 5 days a week for 8 weeks (if I remember right) and clinicals were the last 3 or 4. I got some basic basics from clinicals but really was starting from absolute zero on my first CNA job. The amount of homework for that class wasn't huge either. I think you should be fine doing classes and CNA class together.

When I took a CNA course, we did all of the reading and assignments in class. There was little-to-no outside work involved (except for clinical hours, which were scheduled at the student's discretion). We met for four hours on four days of the week for five weeks.

Not too hard.

Most of it is common sense stuff you should know.

Yep, that's not a heavy load. You could probably go to school full time and handle a CNA course without too much of a hassle, though things could get a little hectic at times. But with your schedule, you will do fine. No worries. :)

It wasn't bad at all. I was also taking 12 credit hours of university courses. The class was offered through my employer and was 10 days 8-3pm and I tested, passed, and was hired two days later.
