Cost of CNA class

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Hi all, relatively new here... just thought I'd get a general consesus as to how much everyone is paying for their CNA classes (or have paid). I'm hoping this isn't too forward of a question, I'm just trying to figure something out.

The class I've enrolled in is a 6.5 month long course, 2 of which are clinicals. Classes are every week day, for 4 hours each day. Clincals are 5 days a week for 7 hours a day.

The cost of my course is $5900.00.... thats more then the community colleges in my area. I was wondering, if this was standard across the board, or how the prices are.

Anyway, I again hope that wasn't too forward and hope to hear from you!

I want to get into the field as quickly as possible, unfortunately this seems to be my only option until the 2010-2011 school year. I'm hopefully going to be starting my LPN bridging to an RN afterwords that year.

We're in the same boat! Wish you luck! :yeah:

I am taking a course at a local hospital / ltc this summer and it is $750. but if you work for them for 6 months after certification, $525. of it is reimbursed. also, it includes stethoscope, bp cuff, cpr certification, and book rental. they also pay for the state exam for the class's valedictorian. - which i think is $95-$100. I also looked into the local community college. in-state tuition is just over $100 per credit. so it would have been $532.50- which did not include the extras. oh, and both classes were 120 hours. one is M-F 7 wks long, the other was 2 nights/week 3 months long.

My classes were $300 in total. Than around $96 for the state exam. Anyway the class comes with all materials. I finally start in 2 weeks! So excited.

My class is about $750 (estimated).

$350.00 Tuition

$ 74.00 Books. (However I purchased my text online for $9.00

$ 23 Uniforms or Scrubs, may be cheaper depending where you purchase them.

$ 8.21 TB skin test

$ 135.00 Hep B Series devided by 3 injection. (Stongly Recommeded)

$ 50.00 White Shoes

$ 15.00

$ 85.00 State Exam when finished with class.

The class is about 3.5 month in duration three nights a week, 3 hours per night.

Hope this helped.

The cost for your CNA class is the cost of the entire two-year RN ADN program at my local community college. That's totally a rip-off!

I'm sure they know there aren't a lot of program options around, which is why they can get away with that.

ITA with you! I'm in Maryland & I thought my course was expensive but that totally takes the cake. I paid $950 for the course itself(it was a month long & 100 hrs) , $70 for the book & workbook, $100 for the scrubs, stethoscope & bp cuff, $50 for the CPR certification, $100 to register with the Board of Nursing as a CNA (included background check & fingerprints), $75 to take a GNA test prep class (gna is what you need to work in a nursing home for our state) & $95 for the actual test (thank God I passed on the first try !)

yeah, I know the price is crazy! I checked around a few other places, in and out of province. The average cost for me to take my CNA course is around $4000 (CDN) and at most places that doesn't cover the cost of supplies, much less the cost of living or moving to wherever in the country those places are... :uhoh3: I guess on the plus side, it does cover my CPR and Advanced Life Saving courses.

I agree, more then likely, thats why they all seem to get away with outrageous prices. Another big cash cow around here seems to be the LPN courses. The one at the local community college usually averages out to be about $7500 after books and whatnot for 2 years. RN degrees are usually a bit more, and a BSN is about $13000 a year for a 4 year program. Ah well, despite the horrendous cost, I'm still really excited. I can't wait to run down to the Medical Supplies store and buy my supplies :D.

I should be hearing back from Student Loan within the next few days, and hopefully they'll cover most of it.

Another downside to all this is I need to get my criminal record check sent to the school, but I have to get all my id back. My wallet was stolen, and stupid me put my birth certificate, medicare card and social insurance card, and of course my license. So, more money coming out of my pockets... thank goodness for 'loving' fiances :p

This is $4,000 in CDN what's the conversion for USD? :specs:

I payed $1400 for my CNA course! :banghead::angryfire If I don't pass State Boards on the 1st try, and I have to pay for the exam again, someone is going down!

It's about $3300 in USD ($4000 CDN).... Good luck, hope you pass your exam!

Oh my goodness what are they doing over in Canada?!!? haha Most classes here in KS are about $350.00 and a bit more for book and uniform good gravy that does not sound right at all and 6mnths? I don't think so, most classes here start every 6 to 8 weeks and in some even 4 weeks. 4 week long classes include you going everyday except Sunday, 8am to 5pm and that includes clinicals. 6 to 8 week cna classes include you just going on weekends and only some weekdays or just 3 days out of the week. Maybe the program your looking at has you doing CNA then CMA and then Medical Assistant, not sure just thinking outloud here. It just doesn't sound right, if you are doing CNA just to have a descent job while you are still going to school then you are paying way to much, for example I am wanting to do an LPN program so I want to do my CNA because I have to have it before I get accepted into a program but also so I can have some practice and hopefully learn from the nurses i'll watch over and see if thats truly what I want to do, also because I want to work part time and have a bit of money while attending nursing school. So the class will be worth all that money if that is something you want to do for the rest of your life or if thats the major that you have. Don't want to belittle the class at all I mean I want to be a CNA and I think you make great money and its a very rewarding job you make a difference in the lives of numerous ppl. What you could do is if you see and add in the newspaper or online you can call the place and say. "Hey you need a CNA I see and if you pay for my class i'll be happy to work for you once I pass the class." Most places will pay for your class, or you pay for it and once you pass the class they will refund your money. The only drawback is that some places want you to sign a 2yr contract with them but some places (such as independently owned nursing homes aka non profit organization) can't make you sign a contract with them. The chepest would be at a community college. Best of luck with the decisions you make :)

I'm not sure, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. And I guess I should clarify, we have 4 months of theory and then 2.5 months of clincals... which are 8 hour days.

I live in Boston, and I paid 550.00 and took mine at Winchester Hospital
