Best shoes for a CNA/Nurse

Gagging during the breif change... Help!
I use to be the same way, but I have been working as a CNA for 45 days now and I am use to it already, it hardly bothers me at all anymore. I chew juicy fruit gum sometimes.

Job dilema- is it like this everywhere?
That is appalling, We can always get periwash diapers, gloves (in all sizes) and anything we need from central supply. I think the people who are telling you that it is like that everywhere are just coping out.

What do you love about being a CNA?
I love the residents! They do say funny things sometimes, one lady said she are her pureed meat and it could have been pole cat (skunk) for you yankees! Another man said "ask me no questions and I tell you no lies, I got hit in the face with a blueberry pie. I asked him how is hip felt and he said fine, how is yours? Haha

I finally start my CNA class tomorrow!
Thank you for the blessings post, and my first day went well, it was an orientation as well. There are three male students in my class including me, that made me feel a little more confortable. The teacher is a male nurse as well. He is very nice and funny, likes to tell a lot of stories. He says he has 110 stories one for every day of class. I really feel that he will prepare us for the state exam. I will keep you posted.

I finally start my CNA class tomorrow!
Thanks, I have been trying to get in to one for two years now. I purchased the textbook about a month ago and have it almost half read by now. This is a big accomplishment for me. Next step is passing the class and the state exam. I am excited for the lady that is starting in two weeks also. Only 3.5 hours till class starts now!

Stressed, brand new CNA. Am I going to make it? :(
Hang in there! The fact that you are stating your concerns shows that you really care about your job. You appear to be striving for improvement and that says volumes about your character and perserverance. I applaud you! You are going to make an excellent CNA and I believe you will be successful at whatever you choose to pursue.

My class is about $750 (estimated). $350.00 Tuition $ 74.00 Books. (However I purchased my text online for $9.00 $ 23 Uniforms or Scrubs, may be cheaper depending where you purchase them. $ 8.21 TB skin test $ 135.00 Hep B Series devided by 3 injection. (Stongly Recommeded) $ 50.00 White Shoes $ 15.00 Liability Insurance $ 85.00 State Exam when finished with class. The class is about 3.5 month in duration three nights a week, 3 hours per night. Hope this helped.

She did WHAT?
Did you offer to speak with the CNA and ask if there was anything bothering her or perhaps something that you could do to help her? I am not sure I would break the chain of command and go directly to the DON. Maybe something is happening in that CNA's life that is traumatic and she needs a friend.

The humility of it all
Regarding the original post, I am curious as to why the RN told you that you had done a good job. This led you to believe that you were performing this task correctly. It is almost like the orginal RN was not really paying attention or just setting you up to fail. I would think that she would have corrected you if you were making errors.

I can't wait!!!

JUST SO ANXIOUS...
LTC is long term care facilities. I enrolled at a local technical school. The first 12 people who registered and paid got in the class. I got there two hours early. By the time it opened at 7:30 4 of the 12 positions were filled. We do our clinicals at a local nursing home. The LTC facilities I applied to were free but I was never chosen for some odd reason. I wish you the best of luck!
