CNA's - What hours do you work?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Just wanted to get an idea of what would be a typical shift schedule for a CNA.

Please include your hours per shift, shifts per week, and what type of facility you work in.

Thanks!

I'm training for a part-time position in the float pool at a large complex with ALF, LTC and TCU. I'll be working in either TCU or LTC, mostly on evenings but perhaps doing some days if needed. For the month that I'm training, I work 4 days on, 2 days off. Each shift is from 2 pm until 10:30 pm.

Starting in August, I'll be working 40 hours per two-week period. (That's 2 days one week, 3 days the next.) I'll have every third weekend off. Very sweet because 20 or more hours a week average comes with benefits.

Crazy schedule but when I start nursing school in the fall my manager will work with me to create a work schedule I can fit into my class schedule.

I have always primarily worked NOC (which was 11-7:30 at one facility, then 11-7 at two others), but I've picked up and covered every imaginable shift (AM, PM, shower shifts from like 5-8pm or 4-9pm, and NOC). I just moved and have an interview on Tuesday with a state facility that cares for adults with developmental disabilities and since I'll be in nursing school while I work, I imagine I'll work NOC shift there should I be hired (I'm very hopeful as I'm well-qualified for the position). The other facilities I mentioned were LTC working with the elderly. I also worked in a client's home and those hours were variable and rotating, but mostly I got her up in the morning, then came back in the evening around 4pm, sometimes I went back at 10pm if she requested it. I worked every other weekend (at all facilities and at the homecare job) and then part-time during the week. I also worked holidays as scheduled.

I work 3-11pm 3 days a week in a mental health assisted living facility, with the option to pick up additional shifts if available.

I work 56 hrs/biweekly at my long-term care facility. I work 2nd shift so 3-11pm. I sometimes do double shifts choosing the NOC as the second shift to work. I prefer 2nd shift.

My primary job is assisted living, second shift 3 to 11. Thirty hours a week (4 shifts) is full time, I was working four days one week and five the next but the workload has gotten really heavy so I opted to only do 4 shifts per week there.

My other jobs are:

Per diem in a LTC / skilled / rehab facility. I pick up when I want extra money, various shifts and when they are short they will gladly let me do a 7 to 11 a.m. or 5 to 9 p.m. if I don't want a full shift. It's also heavy, but I can't do like some people do and put in 50+ hours at one place. I need a change of environment.

Per diem Agency Home care, I do three two hour morning shifts per week. I love, love, love home care. You get to give individual attention and just go at their pace. I pick and choose my cases, love my two current clients.

Per diem agency, back up for a one on one aide that works third shift. If she can't come in I do 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. with one dementia client. Might be four nights a month, might be none.

I have always been the type of person who works two or more jobs at a time, I like to be busy and I like variety.

I work 7-3 full time. Ever other weekend off and off every other Tuesday and Thursday. 75 hours biweekly.

I work 3-11 ft with every other weekend. I'm just glad I'm not doing noc, did that for 3 years (non-medical related)

Wow, when do you sleep and eat? :)

I work 40 hours a week. 11PM-7AM.

I work every single Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

We do block schedules. So, for example for me,

Week One I will work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Week Two I will work Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

And it switches every other week.

I work full time. (40 hours)

11p-7a

5 days a week, every other weekend.

I work 2-10 pm in LTC. We do every other weekend.

I work 8am-430pm :) part time during school!
