CNA's - What hours do you work?

Updated:   Published

Just wanted to get an idea of what would be a typical shift schedule for a CNA.

Please include your hours per shift, shifts per week, and what type of facility you work in.

Thanks!

If you choose to work every weekend, how many more hours do you need on weekdays to be considered full time?

^Just like any other job, full time is 40 hours. In some places, 32 is considered full time but you still don't get overtime until pass 40. You do the math.

I will be starting my first job as a CNA II at a hospital on the Med/Surg floor working three 12 hour shifts! I can't wait!!!

I am 4 days a week including every other weekend. I work 3-11 shifts but 7a-3p on the weekends. My floor is very flexible :)

I work 22.5 hours a week 11pm-7am. rotating weekends while going to nursing school FT M-F

Haha, all of them. I worked part-time in an assisted living facility 2:30pm-9:00pm every other weekend and every other Friday while going to school. I picked up hours 10:30pm-6:30am, 6:30am-2:30pm and 2:30pm-10:30pm. I worked in home health for a short time while I worked a reception job during one summer. I worked an 8am to 2:00pm shift Monday-Friday and a 4:00pm to 7:00pm shift Tuesdays and Thursdays. I also worked a traditional second shift (2:30pm to 11:00pm) in a dementia care ward and 2:30pm to 10:30pm in a group home for the developmentally disabled. The group home had us all working 6am-10pm every other weekend; didn't last long there. Just make sure no one forces you to work 16-hour double shifts back-to-back. You only do the client a disservice by being that tired.

I work 7:30am-3:30pm 1weekend a month off. The pay is excellent so I can't complain. Or you can work the 3pm-11pm shift or you can just work weekends if you want. I'm at a LTC facility in a nursing home.
