Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hello.

I'm trying to apply for this nursing home near my house.

but i'm not sure what to put for desired rate of pay.

so..

what is the average pay rate for starting cnas?

i looked up and they are giving me different rate.

thanks

That doesnt sound like its possible here in FL

Here in Long Island, NY you can make up to $18.75 an hour. That's what my friend is making at a nursing home.

Thats right Miss. Our teacher even told us some start you at $20/hr.

Wow, I wish I was in Long Island lol!!! I'm about 3 hours away in NJ and have no clue what the rates are around here but my mother who is a home health aid told me around $8 and my sister in law who is an rn told me $12.

I got hired today without any previous work experience. I got certified as cna in jan 2010.

They offered me 10/hr with benefits:yeah:. Director also told me that if i will get certified as med. tech in next 3 months then they will pay me 12/hr:heartbeat. I am in texas.

Hi, I am a newly certified CNA.

I just got hired a week after I graduated :)

I heard a lot of rumors about pay during my training... from extremely low to extremely high. I can only work weekends on 3rd right now because of kids and my husband's schedule, and I was offered $13.50 to start with benefits (sick days, holidays, vacation after 6 months, and health/dental offered). I am pretty happy considering I'm only part time. Good Luck!

Where are you located? 10-12hr here in Florida, home health. CNA's pretty much start at that no matter where you go. Hospitals probably more.

I live in Connecticut. But I border Massachuetts and Rhode Island, 5 minute drive in either direction. Home health workers here get an average of $8-$9 per hour. The place where I went for my clinicals starting wage is $14.50, but they're not hiring right now- I'm happy with $13.50 plus benefits considering I'm only P/T and I'm brand new at this type of work. I am currently attending school 2 days a week for Patient Care Technician, which most hospitals in my area want before they hire you.. my ultimate goal is to work in a hospital setting :)

Maybe your cost of living is way different than W.P.B FL! My teacher says to me, at the most we "might" make 10/hr

Are you including shiff diff and waving the benefits? Thats real high.

Riagomez06 ~ where r u working in Boston for $15/hr? I am a nursing student living in Boston and shopping around for a CNA position....I would love some input if anyone could help!

Thanks in advance!!

I have seen job listings for CNAs at $18 an hour, but they were for private duty home care positions.

Specializes in pediatric.

I work at Children's Hospital, I don't know if 15 is standard for everyone. I started when I was a senior in nursing school, so I never received a CNA license. Also I stated on my resume that I am bilingual and CPR/AED certified- I don't know if that has anything to do with my pay... Good luck with the job search!
