Hi everyone well I don't understand hiring process ok I have my cna license I have one thing on my background that got dismissed so I got my license from state on Florida now my question is in my interview with one nursing home they did drug test I passed and now they told me we have to wait for background ok if u had a bad background how come I got mine license like I don't get it so is been five days and idk what to think if that please help

Every job I have ever held does a background check. It doesn't matter if you did one the day before and got your license, people do get in trouble after they have a license.

They have to ensure they have done their due diligence and can demonstrate to any agency that they investigated all applicants equally and appropriately.

If this "thing" got dismissed, then you should be fine. But you will go thru a background check before starting any job. So just keep that in mind in case you need to fill out applications and such.

Heheh I know I put thing because idk how to explain I got misdemeanor but it got dismissed so the court told me well 8 years ago court said I can get it expunge but I didn't and now it comes up even as felony but is not idk is weird but yea I passed the check for my cna license and they asked me for dismissal papers and once I got it I got my license cna well I want this job sooooo bad and I have not had anything on my record sense so I guess is ok I wonder to work in nursing home what is bad on you're record hmmm I will pray I need this job I have been unemployed for 8 months but thanks for advice

I'm not sure how FL works but I know a little about Arkansas in nursing homes. In Arkansas if you have something on your record the Office of Long-term care decides if you can work in a nursing home. Lets say that someone was convicted of forgery. You may be able to get a license with that on your record. Now the Office of Long-term care looks at your record and sees that the forgery charge was because you stole an elderly persons SSN and open a credit card account. They will now deny you the opportunity to work in a nursing home because you committed a crime against an elderly person and you would be working around the elderly. So its not always the crime that get committed but who the crime is against.

Yes is crazy like I applied to a hospital to Voulentier and they called me today telling me I can't Voulentier because I have on mine background a small misdemeanor that got dismissed so hr told me well we are denying you because you went trough like stages with this misdemeanor and is like the same hospital send me for a interview for patient tech I m confused now m waiting for this nursing home to do same and I have no clue how is it going to end and mine misdemeanor is for theft so idk even it got dismissed now m worried

Hi guys I was wondering if anyone working at a nursing home facility or applied had a background check and if what is accepted on the background like If you have misdemeanor or charges w dismissed can you still get hired please let me know thanks

My concern is that or is anyone here on this site cna working for a nursing home with something on their background I have a misdemeanor that got dismissed but I still don't know what are policies for nursing home and human resource told me well we going to check and decide so m not sure what that means so can someone share with me as s cna in nursing home what background is going to deny me a job in ltc /nursing home thank you:-( worried

In Massachusetts we have to check the CNA registry on EVERYONE who applies to work in a nursing facility. We have to check in every state you ever worked in. Some take longer than others to check. We've hired people with misdemeanors as long as the crime didn't have anything to do with abuse,neglect, or harm to an elder.
