All of the jobs we have as CNA's

Nursing Students CNA/MA

I was thinking if I got paid for all of the jobs that I do as a CNA I would be a really rich woman. Feel free to add to my list these are just a few I can think of right of the top of my head:

-Chef : when your pateints don't like what they are served for dinner guess who has to throw something together for them to eat. Or your patient that has diabetes had a blood sugar of 40 and you have to raid the pantry trying to find something quick that had carbs and sugar.

-Beautician/Manicures and pedicures : Who had to do the old lady's hair and cut the old man's toenails....I do!

-A best friend:heartbeat: When your patients are upset or just need to talk guess who they talk to...ME!!

-Nurses third hand :nurse::up:: I am always running to get this and helping with that and really I don't think the nurse could do it w/o me:p.

-Comforter:icon_hug:: Always trying to comfort families when someone dies are is going to die. And guess who has to make Gladas feel better when her roomate says that she takes to long in the bathroom...ME

-Housekeeper: Always taking out trash or cleaning pee up off of the floor because Bob thinks that he still has good aim. Or Alice who ate to many candies that she won at bingo and decides to throw up all over the bathroom. :barf01:

-Servant: well at least I feel like one most days. I am not working in a Hilton.:p

-Dental Hygenist :D: Don't forget to brush everyone's dentures before bed.

-Messenger :jester:: Mildred says that her head hurts and she wants something for it. Ed just fell out of bed!!!! Betty refused to let me give her a bath.

-BABYSITTER::nono: Have to watch out for little Eileen she wants to sneak out with our visitors. As Alma tries to pick up somthing up off the floor you remind her that she is not supposed to be bending like that. She had forgot, no really she did!

-Teacher::grad: First you have to push up off the bed then get your balance and then grab your walker. This is the button that changes the station. The station you like is 39, push 3 and then 9.

And it is all in a days work!!!!! Add anymore that you can think of.

hahahaha! That's why I love working where we have 24/7 engineering! Though I have had to fix a few things here, mostly for the older nurses that don't know how to use the fax machine.

I think CNA jobs are a lot like a SAHM's job. So for all of you who do not SAH, this is a little preview of all that is expected. Of course, moms also have to act as chauffeurs. At least CNAs don't have to do that. Copy%20of%20wink.gif

Well then, we're just getting shafted. ;) I don't have kids nor a husband so I'm getting paid to be a SAH CNA and I get to leave at the end of my shift.

you could not have said it better, i am tired of people thinking (mainly nurses you work with) that cna's are nothing.

we do so much more than nurses, no we do not go to college to become a c.n.a. but we do a hell of alot more than we get credit for!!!:yeah::twocents::bow:

that's for sure...When I worked in the hosp..some of the nurses were so demanding and rude and treated ya like crap half the time. Then there were some who were really great and stuck up for ya. Of course there was one nurse I worked with who thought I should be attached to her hip. Which wasn't soo bad, but there were 15 other nurses who also thought I should be attached to their hip as well. I felt like they couldn't do a thing without a CNA by there side. Some of them would wait 15 to 20 min for me to finish a bed bath with another nurse, rather than get someone else to help them.

I think its a GREAT idea for students to become CNAs before going to nursing school and become a nurse. Then they'll see each job from both perspectives.
