Online CNS school

Specialties CNS

I have a BA and will be graduating from LPN school next week. I really want to become a CNS, particularly working in NICU.

My questions is do I have to become a RN first before applying to an online program?

I was looking at Grand Canyon University.

I don't pretend to know everything about all the schools but, as far as I know, you WILL need to be an RN before becoming a CNS - that should apply whether it is an online or brick-and-mortar school.

I figured that would be the case. Do you know what schools I could look into after obtaining the ADN?

Another thing to consider: NICU is extremely specialized and usually requires a couple of years of RN experience prior to going for your advanced degree.

Thanks for the replies. So I guess I should focus on getting the ADN first, work, and take it from there.

You'll need the BSN to get into CNS program so might want to consider going straight for it.

Agree with Zenman. I did the LPN to ADN to BSN to MSN to post-MSN route and constantly regret that I didn't do the LPN to BSN first - cheaper and faster!
