Nice try on dating her techniques but she's not that old. Intentionally deceptive? Hmmmmmmmm. No different than the AANA koolaid being partaken by those posting here. You're telling me the AANA doesn't exist to protect CRNA practice "at ALL costs"? Puhleeeeze.

And what does the ASA and AAAA exist for if not to protect their members?

Protecting your members is fine. Increasing the professionalism of a profession is great. Advancing yourself by trashing and tearing down another profession is disgusting.

But for some reason that's unacceptable to you, but the actions of the AANA are perfectly reasonable. Are you incapable of seeing the hypocrisy there?

She graduated from Lamar University 1978, and Harris County Hospital School of Anesthesia Nursing in 1981.
In 1982, it was the official position of the AANA board of directors' that registered nurses will be baccalaureate prepared and then attend a master's level anesthesia program. At that time, many programs started phasing in advanced degree requirements.[14]
All programs were required to transition to a master's degree beginning in 1990 and complete the process by 1998.[15]
So yes, her CRNA education was prior to the AANA move to a Masters degree.
And yes, the AANA protects it's practice from the continuous onslaught from the ASA....how many attacks has the ASA directed at CRNA practice?
The AANA is not the instigator of attacks, it fights back in response.
You need to investigate the history a little more.
Glad we agree - the AANA should stop trashing the ASA and AAAA.
JWK please speak for yourself.
I was referring to Dr Fitch's commentary posted on YouTube. The moment she resorted to emotional scare tactics based on the hypothetical not actual facts about CRNA's to make an argument. She lost credibility for ASA, the organization she represents.
I don't anything know the AANA trashing your talking about. Educate us with facts. If it's true, then they deserve to be called out it. I have no interest in Anesthesia but I don't like bullies or people spreading misinformation.
The difference between ASA and AANA is that the AANA uses research to back their statements up and the ASA uses scare tactics and lies. JWK, I would like you for once to post anything related to this that was research based or factual. Everything you post is nothing more than your opinion.

History - you forget I lived it - you're just starting out. I finished anesthesia school in 1981, the same year as Dr. Fitch.
I was referring to the "curare and cyclopropane " comment. The use of cyclopropane in US operating rooms had been abandoned well before 1981. Similarly, use of curare as a primary muscle relaxant had been abandoned as well with the advent of pancuronium, which occurred prior to 1981.
Direct observation doesn't require data to back it up. I've seen and been present and watched CRNA's lie under oath to legislative committees over a period of decades.

Were they convicted of perjury or do you just know they are lying because you have been performing anesthesia longer than everyone?

Practicing 18 years is far from just starting…..anyway….it seems your ability to recognize sarcasm has been diminished….no one gives a rip about cyclopropane or curare….I was merely making an example of her unequal education and experience of being a diploma grad with 1.5 yrs experience as not holding a candle to current CRNA education or practice…..her wielding the "not knowing what she didn't know" like it's a battle axe is the real issue and essence of the thread….and anyone willing to look at her preparation versus current standards would say "Duh….no surprise she didn't know what she didn't know"…..Letting on that your Diploma grad education is equivalent to a Masters prepared CRNA is the very definition of deceptive, unethical, and intentionally derogatory to those currently practicing as CRNAs at a higher level than she ever achieved as a CRNA.
