gpa IN crna school and job prospects

There are too many "GPA for CRNA school" threads to list. My question is a bit different. i am currently enrolled in CRNA school and doing okay. Mostly A's, a couple B's. My question is about GPA IN CRNA school and whether it matters in the job market. Did it ever come up in an interview or anything?

ps- i have never discussed GPA for any of my jobs, RN or otherwise. I was just wondering...

I thought it did so I studied hard and came out of school with a 4.0. However, I've now been a chief CRNA for 10 years and I've never asked GPA. I really could care less. I tell students all the time....get along with people, don't complain, and have a great work ethic. Almost any graduate can do the job but thats what I'm looking for.

Best advice on this website. You have to know your stuff, but at the end of the day employers want to know if you can work hard and get along with people.

CRNAspire, I see that you went to for your RN-BSN and then got into CRNA school. Did you find that your choices for CRNA school were limited, because of WGU being a pass/fail type school? I am interested in WGU, but I didn't know if having a "pass" grade would hurt my GPA and application if I decided to apply to CRNA schools in the future. Can I ask what CRNA school you are in as well? Thank you very much.

I interview and participate in the hiring discussions in our group as well. The subject of GPA never comes up because we don't get school transcripts as part of the interview process. Some put it on their resume/CV, especially if it's good, but it's not really important. The same would go for a pass/fail school. Nobody knows which schools do or don't so nobody cares.

Work ethic and ability to get along with people are the most important, but times are changing. As employers sift through a greater number of applicants, they are starting to consider other factors. If you have a good GPA, I would encourage your PD to include that in their LOR. A good GPA isn't necessarily a 4.0, but 3.5 or better lets people know that you didn't just go for the minimum to pass.
