More $$/hr for CCRN?

Specialties CCU

My facility doesn't give us any incentive to sit for the CCRN, except if we pass, they will reimburse the cost of the exam.

(Regardless, I am taking it in the next 2 months for the knowledge and confidence. We only have 2 nurses still at the bedside (& one is PRN b/c he's a flight nurse) with this credential, so I would like to stand out at my facility with obtaining mine.)

I've seen old threads, but wanted to ask for 2013...

Any of you guys getting paid more for the cert?

1.75 more per hour with exam fee reimbursement

We get nothing. No extra pay; no test reimbursement. (No extra pay for BSN/MSN either.)

This is precisely why I never took a certification exam when I was working in the hospital... it would serve THEM well as they need a certain percentage of their nurses certified for Magnet purposes but wouldn't do anything for me but increase the amount of CEUs I'm required to complete. ;)

I've never worked anywhere that gave you a bonus or a pay bump for having certifications. Sometimes they'll pay for the exam -- if you pass -- but won't pay for the CEUs to keep up your certification.

Fortunately, I got my CCRN at a non-academic hospital, and was reimbursed the fee and got $1.00 an hour for that (and $0.50 for the BSN vs ADN). No reimbursement for CEUs.

Now, I work at a university teaching hospital and we get boo. Of course....you throw a rock in the air and hit somebody who's got even more letters behind her name than I do. ....boo.

Mine gives $2.50 for PCCN and $3.00 for CCRN per hour, plus reimburse the cost of the test if you pass. They also used to give $0.75/hr for ACLS but they just quit (I am grandfathered in thankfully). I have a feeling this might go away so I hope to take the test soon and get it paid for, lol. Note: my hospital does NOT pay extra for BSN or MSN and we are not a Magnet facility.

Testing fees reimbursed after a successful pass and 2% raise from hourly base rate.
