where to find classroom certification locations: Chicagoland

Hi everyone. I'm a new grad looking for as many certifications as possible. I found where I can do ACLS and PALS and am now looking for the AHA ECG and Pharmacology course. I'm also looking for an IV certification class. I'm in the chicagoland area and don't mind traveling 50 some miles if necessary. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

I live in Chicagoland too :)

Anyway, I don't think RN's need to get IV certification b/c IV's fall under the scope of practice for an RN. I could most definitely be wrong, but that is what I thought.

I will be following this thread to see what others have to say.

Good luck!

I know this is a couple months old, but I want an IV class because I dont know how to start them and simply want practice. I did not really get that opportunity in school

It's scarey to me how many nurses are getting out of nursing school w/o having started an IV!

I had students w/me a month or so ago, and they were NOT ALLOWED to start IV'S. How are you supposed to learn w/o trying?!

Don't hospitals provide IV cert classes anymore?

I know the commercial IV classes used to practice using those rubber arms. At least the last class I did a couple years ago still did.

We weren't allowed to in my nursing school either. My work paid for several of us to take an IV therapy class thankfully
