UFV September 2017 Applicants

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hey Everyone :o)

I thought that I would start a September 2017 intake thread. It is a bit early compared to other threads, but we can chat as we prepare for the deadline. What applicants are applying with and chat about the program or anxiety.

I'M SO SORRY!! I totally misread my information session email.. April 12th invited to write a 30 minute essay, followed by an information session. THEN, applicants are invited for an interview by UFV student email.

WHEW!! I was so nervous about the interview..

And about interview attire, I'm dressing for the job I want, not the job I have lol.. So, properly fitted dress pants, A really sharp blouse and loafers. I may wear a cardigan or a blazer as well..Minimal jewelry, and tasteful, natural make-up.

I was incorrect about my grades too (my brain is toast this week from finals and chasing a 3 year old)

Bio 12- 90

Chem 11-96

PreCalc 11- 90

Eng 12- 88

English 1100 from KPU- B

Psych 1100 from KPU- A+

both I can transfer..

and 116 volunteer hours..

How about you guys?

I received an email for the interview today, I believe everyone invited to an info session was automatically invited for an interview too. I'm confused of how the interview goes down, I know we get 5 minutes to answer each question but how does that work...if we finish the question in 3 minutes do we just move on to the next teacher? Is there someone there that we can ask about our personal application (how many points we have?). Does anyone who applied in January and made it to the interviews know?

From my understanding it was that a group of 7 applicants sat down and discussed the interviewing format and then each went into separate offices and had a interviewer ask one question-allowing us 5 minutes to answer. She had said 5 minutes was more than enough for the January intake, so I'm guessing you either just patiently wait for your next interviewer or make small talk and see if they can answer any questions you may have. I'm not sure if there gonna get us all together before or after interviews to ask questions or if we will do that individually with each interviewer

Thanks clwpac! It would be way more comforting to think that the interview was just one-on-one with an individual...that way you get to build up your connection and get to be comfortable with the interviewer. This new system is way more nerve-wracking! Have to start introductions all over again with each interviewer! So nervous

Has anyone gone through the interview process before and have any tips for those going through their first time?

Completed my interview! Now to patiently wait. How does everyone feel they did?

Did my interview as well! I was so nervous the entire time. I wasn't expecting the questions to be like that.... Now the long wait til mid-May!

I'm definitely feeling nervous because there's so many applicants and a 50% chance of getting in! And we all came into the interview with the same grades and info session essays aren't all marked yet so the interview will make or break our chances. I've just been going over my answers trying to remember how I answered them....I was really nervous during the interview! Kept trying to relate the questions back to any of my own personal experiences. I was so anxious during the first few questions but it got better after answering a few and all of the instructors were really nice. I'm just going to try to relax now until the middle of May and accept whatever happens!

That's exactly the scariest part- we're all so neck and neck in marks that it's really just down to interview because that is worth the most points out of the remaining categories for points. I feel like questions were somewhat what I had anticipated but there was 1-2 that kinda surprised me. I found I was more nervous waiting to go in than when we were actually sitting and talking with the interviewers. It's such a blur though that I can't even remember what I said for them. I felt pretty good when I left the interview but now that I know everyone is done and that I can't recall my answers I'm not as confident. The odds are roughly 50% so that's not to bad! I'm just fortunate to have gotten the opportunity to make it this far considering how competitive the intake was this year! Best of luck everyone!!

Feeling some regret over my answers, I feel like I could have clarified my answers more í ½í¸ž I'm going to not stress and think postivitely and even if any of us don't get in for September, there's only 4 more months before the January intake!

@clwpac you're right, it was a very competitive intake so I'm grateful to have been offered an info session and interview invite! Super thankful to have made it this far...

@starbuckss I bet everyone is probably second-guessing their answers, I know I definitely am. But what you said is so true, just going to keep an optimistic view in the meantime, and if acceptance for Fall doesn't happen, it's not the end - just try again for January :) fingers crossed that we get through all of this!

I GOT ACCEPTED!!!
