Opinion on Humber College RN program

World Canada CA Programs

HELLO!

i'm sorry if this is already a thread, i looked but couldnt really find one

I was just accepted to Humber College for bachelor of nursing degree. It is my first choice, and i am just about to accept. I wanted to get some opinions of nurses who have graduated from, or are attending humber college.

What do you think of it? Is it really difficult? Did you get the placement you wanted?

Anything that might be helpful would be GREAT

thanks a bunch everyone!

Just remember that what you're hearing are individual experiences. There were many in my program who didn't graduate (dropped out/flunked out) who would probably say the same thing. Don't let that influence your decision. MacLean's magazine used to have an edition about the best universities and colleges in Canada. Humber ranked well. Each institution has good and bad points. Perfection doesn't exist.

Yes, the courses are tough---that's nursing. They are going to be challenging--that is how you learn. Yes, some people fail---that's life. The UNB Degree program has a reputation of producing excellent nurses (I see them in the clinical setting here on the East Coast) so yes, the Professors will push you to excel---that is their job; not to fail people.

My suggestion: think back as to why you chose to apply to Humber. There was something special that drew you to their program. Let that be your guide and inspriation to succeed.

If you want to succeed, you will.

Thanks RNAnnJeh,

You are absolutely right!

Sorry for all the questions, but do you know if i complete everything in the summer and book my paramed appointment early in september, will it all still be valid throughout the year? is there a time frame in which you have to do it?

Hi KateWindsor,

Sorry to cut in but someone just told me that there is a math/english placement test that we must take before fall, any idea when is it due? Thanks!

I believe that is only for second entry students. Because i've never heard anything about it. Are you second entry (sorry if you 've said it before and i didnt see)

i paid my fees and they sent me a notice telling me what i need to do, and that test was not on my list! sorrrry

Yes, I will be there for orientation on Aug. 31st. ASIST was a great course held by Livingworks in Brampton but you only need the certificate in year 2 before your clinicals start..as far as I know...

Humber has this course also but last time I checked all the spots were full :( so make sure you sign up as soon you can for the next one..

YOU can do it! start completing your immunizations, apply for your police check asap!! ( may take up to 2 months if you live in Toronto but only 2 weeks if you live in the Peel area for example) !! and make sure you book the appointment with paramed. No need for ASIST yet so don't worry about it. Hope this helped :)
