Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2018

World Canada CA Programs

Published

I'm applying to the second entry nursing program in February 2018 for Fall 2018 admission. I'm applying to York, Humber, Trent, Nipissing and potentially Western. I'll be applying with a BA in psych. This is probably super premature, but I wanted some reassurance from fellow applicants. I also wanted to know if anyone, past or previous applicants, know the weighting of Additional Information forms and how they're considered during the application process? I was diagnosed with ADHD during my second year of university, after being misdiagnosed two previous times, and it's certainly had an impact on my grades. My GPA is going to be something like 6.7 on a 9.0 scale. And this really has me worried. Has anyone else had any experiences with Add. Forms?

Good luck to all!

Has anyone gotten an offer from U of T in these past few days ? I'm getting worried it is full already lol

I'm more worried that if more get in that's less spots left for those still waiting.

Did they pause for a bit? Any news is better than no news at this point haha

Hey guys - I'm freaking out a little and need some advice ASAP. So, I applied to York University and it was my top choice. I've been checking MyFile periodically - once a week or so, more or less, and hadn't seen a decision until today. I saw my status is changed to ADMITTED! YAY! I started celebrating and texting everyone I know but then I opened the admission letter in the portal and saw that my OFFER HAS EXPIRED. Apparently the decision was made April 11 and expired April 19!! I never received an email notification, official letter in the mail, or anything that would let me know a decision had been made in MyFile. I cannot accept the offer through MyFile or OUAC any longer. I'm devastated. It's the weekend so I can't call the department but does anyone have any advice in the meantime? I can't believe this is happening. Is it normal to not receive an email or any other notification? I have been extra busy in the last week and a half so didn't login to MyFile as often and am just kicking myself for it now.

Thats brutal! I can't imagine how terrible that must feel. This is probably not the advice you're looking for, but in-the mean time I would search other forums to see if this has happened to other people in the past where they got an offer but it turned out it had expired. See what came out of it, and what others suggested the person should do. When you call on Monday, speak to the admissions advisor. Best of Luck.

Happy Sunday everyone :)

I was looking through document files that we're required to complete prior to enrolment for UofT's Nursing program and stumbled upon this form:

Just in case anyone was wondering - total placement hours is 1336 hours throughout the duration of the program. I remember reading either on this forum or the Facebook group that year 1 is around 500 hours. Year 2 most likely has 300 more hours because of the 11 week integrative nursing practicum to wrap up the program.

For those who will be going to UofT next year, are we required to complete any prior CPR training before the program starts? Are we suppose to arrange and complete it ourselves or do we worry about that later? Thanks!

We have to arrange and complete it ourselves and make sure it doesn't expire until the end of June so that it's valid until the end of placements

Thank you!!!

If it's any consolation I received an offer from Western earlier that expired and I emailed the department if they would be so kind enough as to re-instate my offer - which they did.

I am assuming it's no big deal for you - Just contact the admissions first thing on Monday, explain your situation and they'll most likely send you another offer :)

Sorry but one more question!!...do you know which level/certification we have to obtain? I think there are a few different kinds.. ie CPR-A, CPR-B, standard CPR, emergency CPR etc?

Not a problem :) If this is still up to date, then I'm pretty sure CPR C is acceptable

Update: Under 'Announcements' it shows CPR-C is acceptable
