BCIT January 2018 Intake

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hello everyone!

Now that the 2018 January applications are open, I thought that a thread should be started about it.

To those that are wondering, I'm applying with:

A&P 1 - A-

A&P 2 - A-

Psychology - A-

English - A-

Physics (elective 1) - A-

Philosophy (elective 2) - B

So, overall I'm applying with a 3.55 GPA. I have no previous degree, or relevant work experience. However, I do have relevant volunteer experiences.

I'm so nervous about my chances getting in. How are you guys feeling? What are your grades like?

Good luck to us all! :)

Really, my friend submitted her application just couple days before the deadline but still got accepted. She has a GPA like 3.33 but she has a degree from out of Canada. I guess what made her accepted is she is taking LPN program which is level 1 at RN. That is not point that she is not deemed as a potential successful student at level 1.

Hey guys,

Just for your interest, we've started up a BCIT nursing student newsletter here Current Issue | The Scoop of Practice Please check it out. We are hoping to do lots of staff/student profiles and provide program information as well as professional information about different specialties in future issues.

Referring to the microbiology, pathology, etc courses that are part of the Nursing program - NOT prerequisites - How do applicants know what courses are transferable for the program? Is there a list online that we have access to? Thanks!!

I'm not sure if there's a list online available, but I believe once you've been accepted to the program, you can submit each individual class for a transfer credit. You would probably have to get a list from an advisor as the nursing courses are very program specific.

You can google the bc transfer guide and see there if they have them listed

To those 2nd/3rd time applicants that have been accepted (first a congrats!) - I know that taking LIBS 7001 and 7002/7021 are helpful towards getting in the 2nd/3rd time you apply. However, do you think 2nd time applicants that have not taken the LIBS classes will be successful in getting in?

Any input/opinion/personal experience is much appreciated!!

Does anybody know whether the GPA is calculated based on BCIT's required pre-requisites or on your overall GPA when you apply to the program?

I am putting my application together this week. Best of luck to everyone!

The GPA is based off the prerequisites, however if you have a low cumulative GPA, they will most likely not accept you.

Yes, you need all your documents before you apply. You need to order a physical copy of your high school and post secondary transcripts, and scan them. However, after you apply, you can still submit additional documents (ie. reference letter) until the deadline. You'll also need to fill out a form which asks about relevant experience. At the end of your application, you'll have to pay a $100 fee. That's pretty much it.

Thanks for the information! :)
