Any benefits to a pre-health program to get into BscN?

Hey everyone,

I've been looking around for some answers and have been getting mixed responses. My situation is that I do not have 4U sciences or math. My ultimate goal is to get into a BscN at Ryerson (the collaborative program with George Brown and Centennial). I applied to George Brown for Pre-Health thinking that would make up for the missed courses in high school. But I am now thinking otherwise! A little frightened... Does anyone know if Ryerson would accept a pre-health certificate instead of the 4U courses? If not, would any other University?

Hi Burgie,

I'm currently in the Pre-Health program at Mohawk College. I was just wondering what was your grade for the nursing questionnaire?

Save yourself the $2000-3000 and do it for $30-50 at a local adult school/school board.

The only real advantage you have in doing the prehealth is that you might* be able to be exempt from one of your classes during your first year (an elective), but this will not reduce your tuition fee, it will just give you a spare.

I think it would be easier to get a better average (to get into the nursing program) by just upgrading the 4 prerequisites that are required through the school board than to do a whole course load at the college. I think prehealth is a scam.

Sorry for the late reply... it was 6/7... have you been accepted yet???

Also... Wanted to add.. certain Universities.... like McMaster for example.... You CANNOT do independent learning to upgrade or gain admission. The ONLY way into the BSCN program is to do Pre-Health if you are not applying directly from highschool.

Cheaper and much faster to do the upgrading from an Adult Learning School Board facility.

I loved prehealth! Apparently it is not for everyone but that doesn't mean it isn't a great route to take :)

Its too expensive and too long for what it is.

You can complete all the requirements for under 50 bucks at an Adult learning school, and complete it in under 5 months EASY.

What is upgrading? Why did you do it? How did you do it?

please don't waste your money prehealth doesn't get u in nursing program

I did only 1 semester because it didn't make sense & u got in Niagra College for RPN for January.... if u need to get higher marks go back to high school
