CRNE OCTOBER 2012

World Canada CRNE

Published

Hi everyone! I am an IEN from the Philippines batch 2009 I moved here in Brampton last November 2010.

I took the May 2012 CPNRE (first time) and still waiting for the results which will come out on June. Apparently, I just received my RN eligibility and so happy because it took me almost 14months (from the start of application) to wait for this. I thought CNO will make me take some courses. I was really estatic and relieved when I received the letter, because I am really rooting for RN.

Now this is it! Anyone else who are planning to take the October CRNE? :)

Let's use this thread to share our thoughts regarding preparation and questions. :)

I already tried but not enough practice questions or online sites for practice questions related to CRNE I find here...its all the name of the books, prep courses thts it...

Also for everything its money, money and money...for NCLEX I found everything on allnurses and didn't had to pay a single penny whereas for CRNE even to get 100 question bank book there is money going out of my pocket...I am unemployed so don't have that much money to spend on prep courses and books. In toronto public library every book has long line of holds...I wish CRNE had atleast easy access to prepare for the people who are jobless and paying $508 just to write it.

You cannot compare Canada to the US. Everything is different in Canada and that's just the way it is. Canada has the same population as the state of California - about 34 million, or about 1/10th that of the US. Economies of scale are involved here. Clinical questions on the CRNE are very similar to those on the NCLEX so you can study those with confidence. those relating to community health care, the determinants of health, Canadian health care law and ethics are the ones you won't find in NCLEX prep material. Have you thought about borrowing CRNE prep materials from a university library or another library that has them through an interlibrary loan? That involves NO money other than whatever your local library charges for a library card.

Posting actual exam questions is illegal. Everyone who writes is required to sign a contract that states they will not reveal the specific contents of the exam so the prep materials are really the only way to go. You should check out CRNEcentral.com - Your #1 source for passing the Canadian Registered Nurse Examination for a sample exam that is free. You should also check CNO's web site for resources that will help you grasp the complex and specific information that will be tested.

In another thread you stated you have a BScN from York University. Why is it that you don't have CRNE prep information from your nursing school? I don't understand how a Canadian university would not prep their students for the CNRE; most Canadian-educated candidates pass their CRNE on the first attempt.
