CRNE OCTOBER 2012

World Canada CRNE

Published

Hi everyone! I am an IEN from the Philippines batch 2009 I moved here in Brampton last November 2010.

I took the May 2012 CPNRE (first time) and still waiting for the results which will come out on June. Apparently, I just received my RN eligibility and so happy because it took me almost 14months (from the start of application) to wait for this. I thought CNO will make me take some courses. I was really estatic and relieved when I received the letter, because I am really rooting for RN.

Now this is it! Anyone else who are planning to take the October CRNE? :)

Let's use this thread to share our thoughts regarding preparation and questions. :)

I'm pretty sure the person who posted that is an IEN from the Phillipines who had to undergo SEC, etc.

The exam I wrote was the CNAT and yes my instructors gave us study tips before we graduated from nursing school. Maybe nursing school instructors don't do this anymore, I don't know, but if I were in your situation, I would contact one of my instructors and explain that I had failed the CRNE and ask for support and advice.

The world has changed since the days of CNAT.

When I left my training college, the bookstore had to order the Study Guides in and we had to go back and pick them up.

Most instructors don't stay teaching very long and it is rare to have the same ones at the end of the second year.

Instructors basically give you the exam dates and off you go into the big wide world of nursing. Usually the provincial college drops by and tells you how to register and pay the fees and that's it.

The days of instructors caring about their students is long gone. Some people believed the "Friends you make in nursing school are friends for life" speech the old girls gave on the first day. They were all hospital educated with top up degrees. They just haven't moved on with the times.

Schools are there to fill seats, make money, and repeat. They just don't care about their pupils.

Im just curious, how are you allowed to write the CPNRE and CRNE in the same year? If you're an RPN, dont you have to do at least 2 years bridging before you can write the CRNE??? I'm confused.

Yup Fiona is right I'm an IEN from Philippines. I applied for both RPN and RN assessment. I have BScN in Philippines and worked for a year there, that's why my credentials apply for both. But eventually, I resigned my RPN license. lol. There's no point of maintaining both if I'm not practicing RPN anyways.

Oh i see. thanks for explaining. please excuse my ignorance :) I had no idea but good to know.
