    Guys,

I am an RN here in the Philippines too, I am still here and currently waiting for the SRNA graduate nurse license and permit to sit for the CRNE. I am bound for Saskatchewan by the way, I was employed by Sunrise Health Region. Originally plan to take the CRNE as soon as I get there in Canada, but reading how difficult it is I think I'm gonna take it on a later date( feb or june 2009) I was seriously considering taking a re-entry course or orientation for IEN's, yet I was thinking of the cost (its 2,200CAD). Luckily I saw this CRNE workshop for 3 days at SIASt(Saskatchewan Institute of Apllied sciences and technology) for 375CAD and I think I will be going for that. It is really hard, almost impossible, to find CRNE materials here in the Philippines and I wanted to brush up with everything just so I will feel prepared. Do you guys think going back to our med/surg books(I have latest ed. of blacks and hawks since my brother is also in nursing school) and Mental Health books? TIA for those who will reply

    hi ther guys,

reading about your post here regarding the CRNE, well I am one of the filipino nurse who came to Saskatchewan, specifically Regina and was assigned in Regina General Hospital. I arrive last May and the health region put us in a 7 weeks orientation including the CRNE workshop for 3 days in SIAST, they paid for everything.

we are well supported by our employers, Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region. we were also provided with review materials for CRNE, the library bought many materials for all who will be taking the CRNE.

Regarding the orientation, we are all in the buddy/shadow, mentoring program so everyone will be familiarize with the working condition in each unit until such time that you are confident enough to do it on your own. Each would be assessed after a month of buddy/shadowing, if you passed the assessment then you will be able to pass the probationary period.
There are 2 hospitals here in Regina, the other one is Pasqua Hopsital and RGH.
For all who will take the CRNE goodluck.

It has been February, June and October for a great many years, and it is written on the same day in every city in the country where it's offered. Application deadlines are usually approximately three months before the scheduled exam date.

If you are sitting the CRNE then I would recheck the date as the exam is held in October not September

    hey manchesternurse!

i suggest that you check out the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) website about the CRNE as they own and created the CRNE. The website outlines the length and format of the exam as well as what is tested with the CRNE.

    CNA CRNE Link: http://www.cna-nurses.ca/CNA/nursing...default_e.aspx

i also suggest that you take the CNA LeaRN CRNE readiness test as it help assess your readiness to take the CRNE. The test costs about $40 CAD.

i can't specifically tell you the contents of the exam as we have signed a confidentiality agreement when we wrote our exams.

hope this helps and all the best to you!
