I wanted to reply to your post because you got in the program and seem to know what youre talking about lol! By looking at the application for the ABSN program it seems like they want you to have A LOT of extra curricular activities. They require 3 separate essays and they want you to talk about our community/ school involvement and volunteer/ work experiences. If you dont mind me asking, what was your extra curricular and volunteer/work experience like..did you have a lot? I will be applying for spring 2014 and Im stressing because I feel like I need to do all this stuff by july!

My overall gpa by the time I apply will be around 3.6

my pre req gpa around 3.5

my teas is 83 but I think I am going to re take it

what were your stats?

Hi all. I applied in August 2012 for the Summer 2013 Oakland ABSN program. I am anxiously awaiting the acceptance letter. I never received an email saying that they were processing my application. So..naturally...now I'm worried.

My stats:

MA in Forensic Psychology

4 years as a social worker

Pre-req GPA: 3.8

Science: 4.0

TEAS: 82% (I saw that the ABSN average was 84%)

Has anyone heard about their status?

Hi! I just called the admission office after reading this post as I never received an email saying that my application was being processed either. They said that they did receive the application and don't always send a confirmation email. They also said that you probably should not expect to hear until four months after the deadline for turning in applications. I know this deadline was extended for summer so it probably won't be for a few more months.

Hi Maggie,

Thanks for the reply. I was looking through my Junk mail yesterday and to my HORROR - found an email from SMU saying that my application was incomplete. I didn't include my MA transcripts because I didn't think it had anything to do with getting into the program. (It wasn't my BS and it didn't include any of my pre-reqs). Anyway, after freaking out for several hours and emailing the registrar at that college and my admissions counselor at SMU - all I can do now is wait and hope that I am still able to get into the program! OAK is my first choice. I know it says that they are still accepting applications...so I'm praying!!

The last email I received said "Final answers (at least for the SF option/April start) should be expected between the middle and the end of February". I applied to the San Mateo campus, so I am thinking we will hear around the end of Feb/beginning of March. It's going to be a long two months!

Hi all. I can't believe it's going to be another 1-2 months before we find out! I'm pulling my hair out over here! On the plus side - due to an error on my part, I didn't have the correct transcripts into the admin office. Thankfully, they are still willing to review them. Even this late in the game!

What's everyone doing to pass the time? I'm working for a Temp agency and trying to save money.

Does anyone know when in April the San Mateo cohort is supposed to start? I think they should let us know at least 2 months in advance, I'm hoping the first week of Feb they will have some decisions! Then that would give us all of Feb and March to get ready for it.

What's everyone doing to pass the time? I'm working for a Temp agency and trying to save money.

I'm studying to test out of pathophysiology and psychology, taking pharmacology through SMU, and starting anatomy on Monday. I'm glad I have been so busy, it helps to keep my mind off of the application!

Hello all,

Wanted to let you know that I spoke with the admissions counselor today. She said decisions about acceptance should be distributed by the end of February for SF and March for OAK. Ugh. More waiting.

I'm so anxious to hear the results...I think I'd have to wait 3 more months to hear back about the decisions since I applied for the June cohort. In the meantime, I'm temporarily working as well-- seeing that the tuition is $$$.
