I haven't found a thread for this yet, so I figured I would start one! I am applying in August, after I have my grades from my summer courses. I was wondering what stats other applicants have as well :) I still have to complete human physio lab, general chem and lab, nutrition, and psych so I am not sure if I will get in this time around, but it can't hurt to apply!

No...Oakland found out 3rd week. I was apart of the first round of calls last year. It may have been SF or SM who found out a little earlier.Either way, good luck to you all.

yedwards42 - You are correct about the change of locations. The email I received said San Francisco, so I assume they are differentiating by clinical location. The cohort starts in April.
CaptainButtWipe - Any thoughts on the fact that I finished my last 2 prereq's this past fall (so my final transcripts for two of my courses were just sent to SMU last week)? Will that count against me as they are reviewing apps / making final decisions right now?
Yes, please tell us all "ASBN" SMU (Oakland) enthusiasts about how your year went and what you thought! For example, how did you like your professors, clinicals, and is it "doable"? What did you like and dislike?
PROs:-you finish in a year-most instructors are prepared to lecture in a condensed format.-if you need help, there's always some one to provide assistance, council, and tutoring.CONs:-$!$!$!$!-there are 7 clinical rotations 2 days a week for 6 weeks. You have to make every day matter; to soak up knowledge and build rapport.-say goodbye to your friends and family, at least for the first 6-7 months. The work doesn't get easier, you just get used to work. When you're not physically at school your mind is.***This is MY OWN experience. For some of you it will be a breeze you'll hardly have to study. For others this will be the hardest thing you will ever have to endure. It just depends on how you learn. Also, be flexible be prepared for schedule changes***
Hi :) I've used this site often to learn more about nursing and the Samuel Merritt ABSN program and I thought I would contribute back to the site. I've been accepted to the Summer 2013 ABSN program at the San Francisco/San Mateo campus. I received it last Friday. I won't be attending the program so there will be one more open spot available for the next person. Best of luck with your nursing careers. Hoping that you guys will all hear back soon!
