RN re-entry programs

  1. 0

I am a foreign graduated nurse with Iowa RN license and moved to CA last month. Eventhough I had RN license since 2006 I was unable to work due to my H4 visa. Now I am a green card holder and able to work. But I don't have any US experience and have been out of work for several years. ( I worked as an intensive care RN for 10 years before I come to USA in 2002). I really need to get some US experience and find a job but don't know where to start. If you cold give me any suggetion I really appriciate... Thank you.

Suggest you continue to look through the international forum for help with your question or perhaps someone else will see your question and can offer some advice. Good luck.

Above poster is correct: please post immigration questions in the Advice on Immigration forum.

I would check into getting your CA license by endorsment from your one in Iowa. Do a google search about RN re-entry/refresher courses....

Since I am a permanant resident I do not have any immigration problem.I am looking for a place to start. Actually I am looking for a reentry progam in La that have clinical portion. There are some programs in costal line.

Like I said.....you need to contact the CA board of nursing to get your license by endorsement. Every state has different requirements. Then you need to look into local re-entry programs in your area.

    I wish you the best.

Yes, I agree with Esme. you should try to see if your college degree will be accepted by the CA BON first of all, then look into those courses.

If you venture over to the International boards, you'll find many recent applicants that are being denied (for the ATT at least) and there have been some mentions of some nurses unable to endorse over into CA due to the concurrency requirements, that have been on the books since 1987.

There's no guarantee for the license endorsement as it still seems to remain unsure if it holds true for overseas nurses given that you received your license in 2006.
